Hey, be working this monday?

Tickets are a poor reflection on how much work is done.

call center metrics are probably the worst thing that's happened to the IT industry besides those stupid jokes about people using the cd tray as a cup holder that only one guy ever really witnessed but everyone claims as their own story

Let me tell you the one about the gay radiation oncologist who gave her blackberry curve to her newborn adopted son to teeth on to stop him from screaming.

Tickets are a poor reflection on how much work is done. You should know that. Don't fight it, we all know you have more personal time at work than anyone.

what have you done this morning, princess? you know, besides twirl your hair a bit and stare vacantly at your cube wall.

so far for me:
connect video conference
install monitor/take back loaner
fix printer
setup meeting with loaner laptop for presentation
deliver headphones
help someone with inbox over the size limit
currently working on a crashed entourage inbox on a mbp

Man, your life is TOUGH!

My rather easy going day today had me trying to figure out why a post treatment QA was showing a 67% differential over existing course of treatment radiation exposure. Treatment itself was getting the proper dosage, but a 67% differential in post treatment QA is extremely troubling, no to mention when you are using, at 1 center, a Hybrid IMRT system that you have to use the QA #'s to determine the proper MU's for treatment, that differential can become a serious issues. After about 3 hours of breaking down DICOM data between about 6 different courses of treatment created by two different dosimetrists, we were finally able to figure out that somehow, instead of 1 course per field be transmitted by 1 dosimetrist, 3 courses per field for post treatment QA were being sent instead. Kind of boring, really. Now I have to figure out why CT data being used for treatment at the Tampa location is reading patients being treated Prone are instead listed as Head First Supine, which should never happen. I suspect it has something to do with an intermediary dicom translator which parses the images before sending it on to TPS and record and verify systems, but that's just a surface guess right now.

Thank god I don't have to deal with connecting a video conference. God damn that would suck!

the difficulty in my job is the people. I've said numerous times a trained chimp could do my job but it's dealing with the people that can make my job difficult.
yours doesn't sound that difficult despite the fact you intentionally tried to make it sound that way. ;)

also our video conferences aren't just sally in accounting using a webcam. we have this shit. polycom telelpresence.

Right, because clinical IT is something just any desktop tech could walk in and do. And seriously, Polycome Telepresence! OMG. I had forgotten all about that stuff when I had to set up Tampa to Pittsburgh videoconference rooms for Prudential 5 years back.

Aside from the last one, those all take 3-5 minutes at most each. (Well depending on what's wrong with the printer)
