If the previous BF games are any indication we're going to be posting about this a lot, so I decided it needed its own thread.

I only played for an hour or so last night but here are some initial impressions....

- The visual quality, for such an expansive MP game, is great. The characters/vehicles, maps, and guns are incredibly well detailed.

- The control is very similar to that of BF2, with the exception of the helos. They made them easy to fly so that the console crowd would be able to use them better. They almost level themselves when you release the controls, which bugs me, I want them to be HARD to fly but responsive when mastered. Hopefully a mod will come out that will tighten them up and make them more responsive and less forgiving. Damn all things that are done in the name of accessibility.

- Medic is the easiest way to rank up, FYI.

- I couldn't live without the 1911 pistol. It's like a warm blanket. I actually find myself switching to it quite often when doing different things because it always feels like the right tool for the job. They'd better not fuck with it.

Damn, I can't edit titles on this forum. Annoying typos.

For the first 10 minutes of actual game play on singleplayer, I couldn't spot the enemies like I could in other FPSs. The graphics took a little getting used to.

So far I would rate the game 6/10, but they may very well change after a few more hours of gameplay. Haven't tried multiplayer yet.

I heard they released a patch less than 24 hours after the game's official release.. lol @ EA..

Well that's better than their usual schedule.

1. Release patch
2. Patch breaks game in unimaginable ways
3. DICE goes on some Canadian fuckin holiday for two weeks
4. Beta patch is released that fixes what they broke in last patch
5. See step 1

I've been playing God and Country mode on FIFA 10, which allows you to create a player and then lock into that player positionally and developmentally for the long haul. It assesses a form score and awards experience after each match based upon your performance and the meeting of certain team- and player-based goals and then as you level you can improve the player's skills by spending ability points much like an rpg.

Here's Tom with the weather.

I tried playing the single-player last night for all of 10 minutes. For some reason the game starts out in Japan in World War 2, and they kept stopping the action (meaning I couldn't move at all) to run scripted events. I doubt I'll ever play SP again, it's not why I bought it, I just don't care.

Damn! That sounds good! I love soccer games. I've played almost all the Manager games out there. I might pick this one up..

That was annoying the hell out of me too!

Though the single player does go forward to modern times after a bit..
