Alright. I thought I would organize all talk regarding the UFC or any other MMA, kickboxing, or boxing into a single thread.

UFC 110
Sydney Australia
Ok. Recently we had the UFC makes it's first venture to Australia, and by the words of the UFC president Dana White, "The event was a success!". White was very impressed with the MMA knowledge possessed by the 20K in attendance.

Roundup of main card:

Cain Velasquez defeated Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira via knocking him the fuck out! The gif says it all.

Mirko Filipovic defeated Anthony Perosh via corner stoppage at the end of the second round. Perosh's corner threw in the towel after CroCop opened a massive cut on Perosh's Head with his elbow. Perosh took the fight on 2 days notice.

Wanderlei Silva defeated Michael Bisping via unanimous decision. Bisping put on a dismal performance, and Silva's performance although much better than Bisping's, was still a far cry from the awesome display of violence seen years ago in PrideFC.

George Sotiropoulos defeated Joe Stevenson via Unanimous decision. Australian Sotiropoulos put on a grappling clinic dominating Stevenson in front of the Aussie fans.

Krzysztof Soszynski defeated Stephan Bonnar via headbutt/doctor stoppage. Neither fighter look impressive as has been the case in each other their recent fights. A head clash opened Bonnar's blood floodgate, and the doctor stepped in to put everyone out of their misery.

It was a pretty good event, I was very happy to see Wanderlei win, I just wish the way he was for the last 10 seconds of each round was longer, like the last minute. His kick sweep was a thing of beauty. Velasquez look awesome. I love Nog and was kinda sad to see him lose, but damn, that was impressive.

Also, it's "DREAM" not "DREAMS" ;)

March is gonna be awesome, there's like 3 events in about a week I think...

Yeah the charge Wandy put on when he heard the tap-tap-tap for the last 10 seconds in the 3rd round was awesome. He almost soccer kicked Bisping right after he dropped him.

 @ DREAMS. I've got work on the brain. At work DREAMS stands for Defence Remote Electronic Access Management System.. Fly could you take the S off for me please?

After watching Velasquez demolish Big Nog, I suddenly became interested in seeing him face Lesnar.

I fixed it

looking forward to machida vs. shogun 2. shogun won the first fight. that decision was total BS

True. It was one of the biggest controversies regarding a decision in the entire sport. I also thought Rua won. It will be interesting to see how both fighters approch this fight. I know Machida is going to work on checking the kicks, and Rua should be working on hands a lot more. I just hope this fight is as good as the last one.

I was gonna try and get tickets for that one, it's in Montreal, but damn, it would be expensive as hell.

Maybe this will help?

Found this, prices for ufc 97, they are close to what ufc 83 were, so if they have gone up this year I would not imagine by much.

"Tickets for UFC 97 will go on sale Saturday, February 14 at noon ET and will be priced at $550, $400, $225, $150, $100 and $50."

550 is for all floors, and the first part of the 100's, 400 for 2nd half of 100's, and then so on, up to the 400 section.

I know its not very detailed, but its the best info you will get for a while, unless you can talk to someone at the bell centre, even then, they don't know much for they go on sale.

For anyone who doesn't know what "section 100, 200, and so" on means, its the seating at the bell centre for hockey games. Pic is showen below. Obviously the ice surface is where the floor seating will be, with the cage at centre ice.

unfair. the montreal fight is one of the biggest ever and that was the first time in roo land. not an apples to oranges comparison :p

actually, the fastest sellout was the first UFC in Canada - UFC 83. It sold out in less than one minute, so apples to apples.

Andrei Arlovski signs with Strikeforce, meets Antonio Silva May 15 in St. Louis
by John Morgan and Dann Stupp on Mar 01, 2010 at 6:12 pm ET

Former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski (15-7 MMA, 0-1 SF) has signed a multi-fight, 16-month deal with Strikeforce and is expected to fight former EliteXC title-holder Antonio Silva (13-2 MMA, 0-1 SF) at the organization's May 15 event in St Louis, Mo.

Arlovski announced the deal on his official Web site.

The Silva fight, first reported by Sherdog.com, was and later confirmed to MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com) by a source close to the Brazilian who said the fight will be part of the night's Showtime-televised main card.

Strikeforce, of course, hosts its next major show on April 17 when middleweight champ Jake Shields takes on recent signee Dan Henderson in a CBS-televised main event.

Arlovski fights for the first time since Strikeforce's initial St. Louis show, which took place in June 2009. There, he suffered a 22-second TKO loss to Brett Rogers, which followed a first-round knockout to Fedor Emelianenko at "Affliction: Day of Reckoning" six months prior.

Prior to the back-to-back losses, the former UFC superstar had posted five consecutive wins and reemerged as one of the world's top-five heavyweight fighters.

He can get his career back on track against Silva, whose six-fight win streak recently came to an end with a close but unanimous decision loss to Fabricio Werdum at Strikeforce's November 2009 debut on CBS. Silva posted the win streak with now-defunct EliteXC promotion (where he defeated Justin Eilers for the title) and World Victory Road's Japanese-based Sengoku event series.

A source close to the fighter told MMAjunkie.com Silva was also under consideration for a fight with Rogers.

Good to see Andrei back. Hopefully he's learned a good hard lesson from the knockout loss to Rogers, and remembers how good his ground game is..
