So i got a DUI

I don't have a DUI on my record, i have wreckless on my record.

And for the record i have learned my lesson. The penalties could have been much stiffer and i very well understand that.

Exactly. And if you had blown, getting it reduced to wreckless driving would have been much harder. Read my fucking posts.

I wish it had cost you a little more, like another 5-6k. I HATE it when people are so inconsiderate and selfish and moronic and drink and drive.

Don't do it again.

Mine ended up costing a little under 8k but it was dropped to a "Parking on the Highway" ticket. Sadly, I did not learn my lesson until I watched my roomie go through 2 of them and almost a 3rd recently(cop was off duty, still vop'ed). His over the years have probably added up to a good 15k and no chance of a license for 5 years. Now for the most part I will have 1 beer an hour when we go out or have a friend come pick me up. Its funny how some of us learn after nothing, some learn after others and some just dont learn.

I agree. I think it should be mandatory jail time too since it's basically assault when you get in a car and drive around drunk.

In Canada I hear they end up running around 10-15k for a first time. I dont know how accurate that is but my uncle told me something like that last time I was up there. He also said that if you get a 2nd your life is pretty much ruined

In ontario, 1st offence is 12 month suspension plus ignition interlock and a $600 fine. Second is 14 days in jail minimum and 3-year suspension, 3rd is 90 days jail, lifetime suspension.

Refusal to give a sample carries the same punishment.

No.

I have 2 brothers with DUI's :fly: Here... the blow test you do on the road is not admissible in court, you have to blow again at the station. THAT one is what goes to court.

both brothers blew over the limit (one was 0.082, the cop was like, wow that sucks) both brothers got wreckless driving.

It's all about the lawyer

:iono: Laws could be different or I'm full of shit, but that's what I've been told.

We dont get the ignition interlock until the second(normally) which also comes with a minimum of 10 days in jail(timed served plus 6), dui classes, probation and 5 year loss of license.

Hardship license available after I think 6 months, which is basically the same as a license if you have an excuse(Dj, owning your own company, ect).

My brothers friend just got one in Oshawa and said it cost him quite a bit of monies. I dont remember what he said but it was quite a bit more than 600... you sure about that?

the guy that i mentioned earlier was told by his lawyer to just keep your mouth closed no matter what. no talking, no blowing.

In Georgia you don't need a license to drive an under 50cc scooter but Florida looks like they require you to have a drivers license. too bad.

Meh, I got a friend whose a two star general. The 2nd star woke him up to his drinking problem and he stopped drinking. Also helps that he has two kids now to look after.

First one he lost his license for 90 days, big fine, SR21 form. 2nd one was a week in jail, big fine, lost license for 1.5yrs, traffic school and some other stuff. Hopefully he won't get a third. One of the arrests he refused the breathalyzer, was taken to jail for hold until a nurse could come get blood, like 4 hrs later. And his BAC was still .21. LOL

They have a program in Fort Worth now where they'll have a sort of task force night. They have roving trucks with people certified to take blood, and tons of cars on duty pulling people over. Everyone who refuses get's blood taken on the spot.
