VPILF

you really judge that off of two issues that have absolutely nothing to do with your day to day life?

i mean, the closest you're gonna ever get to either of those being an issue to you, is if you knock up some chick and can't find a wire coat hanger anywhere becuase everyones replaced them with the plastic ones.

it's about the greater good, not me personally

abortion is for the greater good?

my point is, dem's, and rep's alike, pick on the stupidest issues that effect almost no one and turn them into some major debating point...

wanna focus on something people should actually care about? ask about stem cell research. THATS for the greater good and could end up effecting any of us. or you know, focus more on taxes, minimalizing federal government, the energy crisis (something the democrats seem to want to do NOTHING about except whine, place blame, and say 'we need to develop new shit and that wont happen if we're busing drilling and stuff to ease the temporary strain'), etc.

I believe that the ability to have an abortion is for the greater good.

-There are people out there who should not have kids. YES they should practice safe sex but they don't.
-There are rape victims who get pregnant.
-Image the surge of births if abortion rights are taken away? Sure there are people who will work around the system but not all of them.

When the personal belief on abortion has the ability to affect my rights as a women . . yes.

cause its the VP's sole choice to allow or dissallow abortion?

And if for some reason, the VP does have that power and I just skipped class the day we went over that part of the constitution... then I'd always be happy to push you down a flight of stairs. ;)

From what I understand they do consider stem cell research a type of abortion.

Isn't abortion a state issue right now anyways? This goes back to my whole minimalizing federal government thing anyways.

I don't think many disagree that rape victims should get abortions. And how many people get abortions right now anyways? And can someone compare that to how many chinese kids get adopted by US parents each year becuase they cant find an american kid?

fyi: i beleive in evolution and abortion, just think it's a tiny miniscule issue that's completely overblown and overshadows REAL issues that are REALLY important.

Exactly my point, *THATS* the issue they should be focusing on. STEM CELL RESEARCH SHOULD BE THE ISSUE! Not scrambling some unwanted kid in the uturus.
those who are fundamentally opposed to abortion are also opposed to stem cell research.

There have been studies that legalized abortion also leads to lower crime rates since the people who are irresponsible enough to need an abortion are more than likely going to be poor parents.

If only the state could give out vasectomies and tube tying for free/discounts.

No but McCain believes that as well. So it does worry me.

For true. My friend wanted to get her tubes tied. She has 3 kids. And they said she either had to have 4 kids or be over 25. Odd requirements.

they're opposed to some types of stem cell research.

I agree! Stem cell research is incredibly important to our lives as human beings especially because we are living longer. Remember the dark age? Not to point fingers at the religious (cough, catholic) people but they put a stop to all technology and called it witch craft. Thus delaying any technological advances... we could be so far ahead right now.

Which is basically what Bush is doing now or any republican for that matter.

The thing that pisses me off about republicans is that they keep changing the argument with regard to character assassination, but stick to the same old issues like glue. Kerry is too rich, but McCain isn't. Obama is too inexperienced, but Palin isn't. Kerry is a flip-flopper, but McCain can just change his mind. Democrats are too "politically correct", but a common "folksy" similie like 'lipstick on a pig' is sexist.

The only thing republicans seem to do regularly is try to put idiots in the whitehouse, try to cut taxes for the wealthy, and try to "cut spending" (as long as it isn't spending that ends up in their own pocket or buys them future campaign contributions)
