The Dong Thread

I love all of you and your pets! Little does Zac know that when we retire I am buying lots of land and starting an animal rescue. The guy that runs Tampa Beagle Rescue is my hero.

Yeah he's awesome. We just spent two hours in the park exploring the duck ponds and woods and now he's fast asleep twitching his feet. Must be dreaming he's off the leash for once. :fly:

When I get a house I might consider getting another.

Responsible shelter owners/operators are needed. The shelter that closed in Indiana was horribly run.

Cindy was telling me she got one kitten who was 6 weeks old... and when she got it, it was lethargic and couldn't even pick it's head up. She rushed it to the animal emergency on the first night and it turns out the kitten had fleas so bad it was anemic, and even after a blood transfusion the poor thing died.

Then, she got a dog who was said to be 10, but he arrived with a terrible skin infection and eye infection which caused his eyes to run bright green puss.. and all of his hair to fall out. The vet said that the dog was really only 5 years old and just had not been properly taken care of.

this was 2 of the 10 animals she took in.

Non profit doesnt mean the employees don'rt get paid, it simply means that all money is put back into the business, wether its supplies, salaries, advertising, etc.

1. Have all the animals run on treadmills continuously.
2. Feed electricity generated from said treadmills back into the power grid.
3. Collect checks from electric company.

BUT THAT WOULD BE CRUELTY TO ANIMALS!!
*goes to walmart to buy a couple $ of chinese goods made by kids in sweatshops*

Money isn't made when you run a rescue. The overhead is too large because there are millions of animals waiting to be saved that need healthcare and spaying or neutering.

These things must be done before an animal is adopted out or the rescue is what Zengirl is talking about. That's why there aren't more people running rescues and they are all volunteers.

This is why I would feel guilty about taking a paycheck when running a rescue.
