Texas is doomed!

In all seriousness, how do you have them secured? I'd like to get some plywood cut and ready, but aren't too sure the best way to secure them...

Coarse thread drywall screws. Probably 3 1/2"" screws should do nicely. Then cut the plywood so it matched up with the brick moulding around the edge of the window. Screw through the plywood, through the brick moulding and the screws will hit the wall framing behind the window.

At least thats how I'd do it up here. Is your exterior wood? Stucco? Something else?

Then when you unscrew them just fill the holes with caulking. Number the plywood too so they go back in the same spot with the same holes.

edit: Or if you have the money, get real storm shutters installed.

As long as you have a brick house, plylox is the way to go.

Those things are worth their weight in gold.

We have stucco over cinder block. I've seen those things on the internets, but thought they may fuck up the blocks somehow? No?

edit: you need 4 per window?

Well I dunno how well theyll work over stucco. Theyre pretty mean to the brick.

Ya, at least 4 per window. I use 6 on the bigger windows.
