The death of PG'ers - Forum Update

it's how we do things in fayettesville.

it's time for a new dawn theac, what's there to lose? a bit of moderation time?

i don't know any other forum that uses some prehistoric method of authentication unless it's a kiddy fiddlers forum
The welcome threads were an attempt to offset the prevalence of G.I.F.T. by reaching out to new members in a personal way. Its hard to develop G.I.F.T. when you have real people offering you a real welcome to their community. It puts the idea that there are really people behind the usernames. Equally it helps tear down that wall of anonymity new members hide behind for existing members.

So if trying to inject some level of personal accountibility, fellowship, and intimacy into a community is childish, then I'm a Toys R Us kid.

Dude, seriously. Chill out.

Some people may just want to lurk a bit before posting.

Then lurk. You don't need to register to lurk.

Why should I chill out? He asked for opinions and I'm giving one. If you don't want descension, then just fucking grow a pair and say "this is the way its going to be bitches, deal" and don't get all touchy feely with a "how do you feel about this" thread.

you have turned into one yap - jesus christ

fly can turn it back on again if needs be. if this works, and it probably will because the old system was stupid, i expect you to still be completely ridiculous.

Who the fuck are you?

who the fuck are we all? /deep thoughts

I think there should be a 30-50 post entrance fee before they can make new threads...that will keep spamification by random ill-willed noobs to a minimum

Easily implemented and will be if spam truly becomes a problem.

Okay dipshits, let's not attack. We all have opinions and input and we will disagree. So let's love our diffrences and not beat off the new Theac.

Beat off... LOL who is first?

I offer support and explanation for my position and you only offer insult. Lovely. You still have yet to explain why this would be an improvement or how the old system limited things.

There are virtues to both systems. The old one and the new one, that is. Like theac I think it's nice to have newcomers step into the building and be introduced to people. It's more meaningful than "Thanks for registering - go lurk!" On the other hand I can see why people find that spotlight a bit lame, particularly the wallflowers.

Personally I'd like to see a hand-selected group of five or six of us fly out to the newcomer's house and have a sit-down chat with coffee and brownies. You know, to let them know we don't take any of this internet stuff too seriously.

4 people to form a firemen's line of "stuffers", 1 to measure dialation, and 1 to film the whole flithy process?
