Who cares, she rides tanks and shoots .50-cals.

As a gun owner I'm rather pleased by this development.

This.

Seriously, though, I really wish we had a system where I could vote *for* a candidate, and not just against the other candidate. Generally, I stand with Republicans on most issues, but on certain things (things that are fairly important to me, annoyingly) like gay rights... I don't.

So, I'll probably just end up voting for McCain, because he has fewer disagreeable positions than Obama. /sigh

Its not too late to rethink your position.

Edit, before you bitch its out of context, here's the full clip.

She downplays the importance of the VP, implying its a ceremonial position.

This makes it very interesting now. I had read his original choice was Condoleezza but she turned it down. He figured she would be able to trump both the woman and the black card.

I didnt even know Palin was being considered though. I remember hearing about her in like 2004? because she resigned and turned in a bunch of people on the oil and gas commission in alaska. Which was a bug deal at the time because she was republican and Bush was doing his whole lawl I r goin to drill the arctic thing. Her and McCain are far more 'green' than Bush & co. will ever be.

I dont like the whole pro-life deal but meh.

Environmental policy is usually something I dont talk about because there are the greenpeace/peta/hippie crowd (most of which dont even live in rural areas) and the walmart crowd. Shockingly the truth is more complicated. As with everything in life.

That is what had me confused this morning. Ive never heard her mentioned as vice president contender. I really really hate the coverage for this entire election though. American news has turned more into telling people what to think vs just restating a summary of what happened. My news comsumption consists of BBC World Report radio and Nature anymore.

Finally hit CNN

"John McCain first met Sarah Palin only six months ago and had just one conversation with the Alaska governor before offering her the vice presidential slot on the Republican ticket, the Arizona senator's campaign said Friday."

This reminds me of when Bush nominated Harriet Miers for the Supreme Court. Knowone knew who she was and she had basically zero experience or qualifications for the job. He only did it to shut people up and take focus away from the fact that Sandra Day was stepping down and he was going to replace her with a Bush lackey.
