Opinions on Blackberry

did it hijack your entire music collection and convert it to mp4?
fuck no. it's important to not let it do anything until you change your preferences to mp3. i also add music manually rather than by searching because my shit is terribly tagged and i don't want a bunch of confusing stuff on my ipod. i retag before i add.

Apple is the devil. I was on the H8Apple bandwagon for so long.
funny thing is i grew up a mac lover. i actually had a subscription to macworld magazine in highschool. if my college hadn't handed out thinkpads to every student i'd probably still be a mac user.

Since this is a BB thread, suggestions on a good free AIM client? I've tried Nimbuzz, but I think the application shuts off when I go back the home screen. I did like how it uses amazon image server for sending of images in a chat window. That was handy.

I just use my BB messenger. The curve has most of the IM clients built in and the application stays running unless you force it off.

My contract is up for renewal as well. I'm trying to hold off until the HTC touch comes out though. I always seem to upgrade right before something cools comes out.

I thought it was cool, until I saw a video review of it on youtube. It's just a cool desktop, with EVERYTHING else the same.

you do know that in testing the wifi version actually faired generally worse in page load speed vs edge, right? the device bottlenecks the download and with the added overhead of wifi vs. edge, the wifi ended up being slower :

edit: what could you possibly mean by not as robust? lost me there too :p
I didn't know the wifi was slower, for the sites I visit it seems faster. I tend to stick to wap sites though, I do most of my browsing on a regular workstation.

Sorry, I meant more durable feeling. The 7100 felt like a brick whereas the 8320 doesn't feel quite as sturdy. I like the 8320 better but am always afraid that I'm going so crush it to death or something.

Jivetalk is the best messengering client for blackberry that I've used. I can access AIM,MSN, YAHoo, My work Jabber, and Myspace if I choose. I think it works with others too but I've never used them. You can do the free trial and just keep ignore the please register message if you ever restart it. It costs $25 if you aren't a cheap bastard. The customer support is awesome. When I first tried it it wasn't officially supporting myspace yet and I e-mailed tech support and within minutes they e-mailed me me with a prerelease client and had it working for me great.

I somehow broke off the trackball on my Pearl this morning. Fell out of my hand and the trackball assembly popped out, along with the retaining clip. Part of the retaining clip broke. Wasn't too happy and wasn't going to mess with it. So I took the phone down to USC store and and found out that they don't fix smartphones in-store, and that I would have to call Customer Service and get it repaired that way. Doh!

So I grabbed a small screwdriver I had in my toolkit and fixed it after 10mins of messing with it. Appears to stay on there. Not too sure about it.

Damnit, I'm usually so careful with my electronics, but today I just had butterfingers and dropped the damn phone like three times.

fake edit: Looks like eBay has replacement trackball and retainer clips. Might just go that route and get one, instead of having to send out my phone for a week or more while I wait for it to be replaced.
