Saw Powerman 5000 last night. What a great show. Here's a photo I got of Spider, the vocalist (as a side note, is the younger brother of Rob Zombie):

Hard to tell but there is a column to left foreground that says "due to the concerns of (town the club is located in), moshing is no longer allowed". LAWLZ didn't stop anyone from having a good time last night. Most of the security guards didn't care either and didn't prevent anyone from having a good time.

I saw them in High School, back when moshing was allowed.

I installed a reman mass air flow sensor in my truck today in the parking lot of Autozone no less. Kinda surprised I didn't fuck up the install and that my truck runs. The check engine light even cleared. Stupid mass air flow sensor been throwing codes randomly last few weeks. Changed out the air filter. Didn't fix it. So I figured might as well replace the whole unit. 2001 chevy blazer fyi.

Impressive, the last time I dicked with something on the S-10 chassis EVERY goddamn bolt I tried to remove was frozen and I had to cut the nut off of each one.

Fortunately no bolts to take off. Just two pipe clamps, and loosen 4 screws on the air filter cover. I'm a little proud of myself as I never do any car repair stuff because they usually end in disaster when I try to do it myself. I usually just take it to the dealership, but this time I just couldn't resist doing it myself.

*knocks on wood*

so I missed a golf tourney yesterday because my vette broke down :(
I left it at the bar the night before and my buddy dropped me off to pick it up...I turn the key and get a message on the display saying "service steering column"...it was electronically locked out and would not turn...I get a tow truck out to take it to the dealer and the tow driver says he knows how to fix it...I give him the go ahead and he punches the steering wheel and it unlocks...I pay him 65 and he leaves...fast forward a few hours and it happens again but beating the shit out of the steering wheel is no longer working...had to cab it home, again...that car is done...I can't wait to get a cheap lease on something...it will be like getting a huge raise

yeah I didn't like that episode so much. in general the whole premise of section 31 went in the wrong direction. they tried too hard to make it obviously evil

I liked it because Bashir finally saw how ugly, twisted, and evil war is. He then proceeded to be jaded throughout the rest of the season (and well the rest of the series).

But yeah that phrase applies to today. Most of DS9's plot (or as some people say lack there of) can be applied today.

Well, the Federation has always had a rosy, unrealistic view of war. Starfleet lacks any real ground troops, they rely on space superiority and when they can't attain that they just leave, forcing the people to fend for themselves, like the Maquis. They build crappy weapons, have amatuerish tactics and can't win a conflict without the saving grace of some deux ex machina on their side.

War is ugly. It's supposed to be. It should be ugly and horrifying and disgusting and wretched and draw up every terrible and unpleasant emotion the human mind can experience. It should be awful otherwise we'd get too fond of it.

But Bashir, like virtually everyone in Starfleet and the majority of the Federation, was an idealistic fool. The Federation is an empire and needs to crumble.
