Today is the day that I make my LAST payment to my debt management program. I have been making these payments every month for 3 years. I know this sounds to ghey but I am really proud. :D

Congratulations Dharma, this is something to be proud of.

And to think my mudbutt thread was voted the worse in UF's history

, this isn't even on the same level as your thread.

You know what UF needs? An opposite of the vault where terrible threads are kept for the ages.

Did you pay off the software itself, or you are talking the last entry you have put into this software to monitor has been paid off? I guess I am kinda confused. :(

Ok, so I fucked up during my first year on my own (approx 3 years ago). And i racked up 6,500 in debt. Well I couldn't afford the monthy fees so I joined Money Management International so that I could pay them one sum and they would work with my creditors to lower interest rates and so that I don't have missed payments on my credit report. So I've been paying $245 per month for 3-4 years to clear this up and today was my last payment.

Oh, well congrats on that!! Yeah that would be a big deal/step. Is your credit score recovering as well? Should beerad join a program like this?

And

All I am waiting for is the program completion letter from MMI and zero balance statements from the 3 final cards. :wiggle:

They are making me update them every three months with the balances from the collection agencies. It's such a hassle. Congrats on completing it, hopefully I'll have mine done in a few months.

I have never owned a credit card until my company gave me one for travelling expenses for work. I can see how people could get easily roped into a mess they can't get out of with them.

It's such a nice feeling to pay something off. Congrats by the way. My only bit of advice would be to use that $240/month to service any car loan or other debt you might have and get it paid off as well.

Debt sucks...house debt, not so much as I'm gonna be paying for a place to live anyway.

The only recent additional debt I have accrued lately, that I regret, were student loans the wife took out for her masters. I'm not even sure of the amount right now, probably $10k or so. What has me upset is that we could have paid for the program w/ cash, but the wife didn't want to scrimp for a while.

Upside is, I'll get it paid off in a year to 18 months plus I learned a valuable lesson, my wife would not make a good financial planner.
