Children of the 80's, think back to the days that shaped your life. The days of Care Bears and GI Joes. Back when HeMan had the power of Grayskull. Back when Optimus Prime was in his prime. For some those visions bring small sparks of nostalgia. For me, they stir flames of a great love...a movie that transformed a quite little conservative girl into a child with a mind full of creative curiosity and wonder. The move...The Dark Crystal.

Three great imaginaries joined forces in the 1970's to make a film like none other. Jim Henson, Brian Froud and Frank Oz spent the next 5 years making a movie that would debut as a commercial and critical failure. Fortunately the movie gained a following and became a cult classic. Apparently, it won over enough hearts to even merit.....a sequel. *gasp*

I'm still singing, and downloading the mp3. As I was packing some of my stuff the other day I found the tape and listened to it.

As for The Dark Crystal, I thought that one of the most amazing things about that film was the craftsmanship. I'm hope that CGI doesn't ruin what was so great about it all. Despite my fears, I look forward to it. What a wonderful thing.

there might have been more, sometimes we did like kid's names and stuff.

then you doa tally, while the other person can't see, and they say stop;you count up the tak marks, and then you go through the list from top to bottom, elmininating the one you land on, til there's just one left in each category.

that's how my friend and I did it, anyway. there were probably lots of variations.
