Advice The Home Improvement/Automation Thread

Epoxy turned out well. Now for the new paint, baseboards, island, cabients, everything. Should be done with all this by 2026.

edit: In case its not obvious, the oyster shell detail is underneath. The floor is completely flat.
that is extremely...... 1980s cocaine mansion.

Renting still sucks, but prices are dropping.

Might get a house, bigger than the former place for $500 less than what the ex will still be paying.
Warned her she should look around...

It's epoxy...
It's white marble colored epoxy. You went to the store and looked at the epoxy, and was like white marble, that is what I want, in a kitchen, where I live.

Not a movie set in the 80s. Where you live.

There will never be a single person that walks into this house and says, "Your marble looks amazing." or, "your marble looks like shit." It looks like epoxy. I bought clear epoxy, then purchased pearled white and black mica powder. After we're all done, it should look pretty sweet and modern. I think it looks great, but its okay if you don't.

The good news is that if the new owners don't like it, they have a perfect surface to put down whatever they want on top of it.

There will never be a person (including me!) who walks into my old house and thinks "the fake marble pattern printed on the fiberboard wainscotting in the bathroom looks amazing" or "the fake marble pattern printed on the fiberboard wainscotting in the bathroom looks like shit". It looks like fake marble pattern printed on some fiberboard wainscotting. It looked dated from the day we moved in, and looked dated the day we moved out. I just didn't care enough to rip it off, plus there was an image of Falkor you could kind of make out if you were straining on a big poop.

It didn't ruin the plaster, and I'm sure whoever bought it after me probably ripped it off and put like, a not-plastic tub in there and shit.

One place we lived in (we were renting) had the floors in the living room painted to look like flagstones.
It was ok but if I was gonna take the time to paint the floors Id probably do it to look like old growth wide board pine or something.

My point was that it looks like epoxy, which is somewhat of a normal flooring. But they make tile that looks like wood flooring these days, so who the fuck knows. It's an awesome floor. Super hard, which makes for easy cleanup and minimal damage. The robot vacuum loves it. And there's no cat puke in carpet or stuck in the grout.

Once we get all the walls painted, baseboards in, and cabinets done its going to be pretty . Even if none of you like it! :p

Like I said, hopefully it's just your shitty Pixel camera.

Post pics when it's all done.

All our outlets are old. Some of them aren't even GFCI. So I'll be replacing them. Is it worth adding an AFCI? I assume like GFCI, they protect everything downstream. Is there some easy way to determine the outlet closest to the breaker, or do I just have to dig everything out and map it out?
