Ontopic The Shooting Thread

Can't you go down to the supermarket and mad dog the youths there, then come home and watch Roadhouse and jerk off?
I went to the library, installed an AC unit for my landlady, and cleaned out my car. I'm watching youtube and drinking iced tea.

ok so what are our thoughts about this

i’m super curious cuz it seems to be split

should he be charged with this or not
Generally if you kill someone, without a valid legal excuse like self defense, there are repercussions.

he was handed a gun by the armour person and was told the gun was cold.
two people handled the gun before he did but he gets charged with manslaughter ?

i dunno it seems un fair like sue the whole production etc but this was clearly a tragic accident

First rule of handling weapons is don't point them at anything you don't want to destroy or always keep them pointed in a safe direction.

Second rule is always treat a weapon as if it was loaded.

Most drunk rednecks in the US manage not to shoot anyone by accident every year.

Involuntary manslaughter is a charge that carries no motive or negligence to the best of my knowledge. Another example of something that might get you charged with that, is if your car had a tire burst and you ran over a kid. Completely not your fault, kids still dead

It actually implies criminal negligence unless it's constructive manslaughter. There's no motive but the duty to act in a responsible way was neglected... juries are the ultimate finder of fact in the US legal system so...

Except in NY. The murder laws there are unique. Didn't this happen in NM or something? NY has 4th degree murder which is like you didn't mean to kill them but you were definitely pissed off about something.

Conspiracy theorists will say it's revenge for portraying Trump on SNL. The bullet was meant for Alec...

I think Alec Baldwin the actor is innocent in this case. He got handed a gun by the assistant director and told it was cold.

But Alec Baldwin the producer, who was responsible for making sure shit was being done right, and was allowing these idiots to go shoot rounds with guns and then use the exact same guns in a film shoot... like that's a utter failure of management and that's on him to some degree.

He was on a set and he was handed a gun that he was told was loaded with blanks.
Not quite sure how you can act irresponsibly in that scenario?
Ignoring everything i said, blanks can still kill people. Isn't that how that other dude died? I'm not saying throw the book at him but there is a measure of accountability that was completely ignored.

Brandon Lee died from a squib load, yeah. His mom eventually settled and nobody got convicted of anything.

Thanks Wikipedia. Point stands. There's more guns than people in the US and somehow, most of the time, we manage not to accidentally kill each other with live ammo. So someone being like Oops is kinda insulting.

Someone's gonna get paid but nothing else is going to happen.
