@Domon Seems that Mikrotik router I got can't do uploads more than about 200Mbps. :( I had Frontier come out after I couldn't get 500Mbps uploads. Their router worked fine. Then I did a btest from the Mikrotik itself.

Code:
[admin@MikroTik] /tool> bandwidth-test 23.162.144.120 user=MikrotikBtest password=MikrotikBtest direction=both
;;; results can be limited by cpu, note that traffic generation/termination performance might not be representative of forwarding
                        performance
                status: running
              duration: 1m24s
            tx-current: 180.8Mbps
  tx-10-second-average: 197.5Mbps
      tx-total-average: 196.0Mbps
            rx-current: 473.2Mbps
  rx-10-second-average: 488.0Mbps
      rx-total-average: 486.0Mbps
          lost-packets: 6242
           random-data: no
             direction: both
               tx-size: 1500
               rx-size: 1500
      connection-count: 20
        local-cpu-load: 100%
       remote-cpu-load: 83%

As you can see, its CPU limited. Obviously not your fault, but damn. :(

edit: There is a firmware update. Cross your finger.

All those routers get limited with too many firewall rules. Straight throughput and properly configured they can do a lot. But when you start putting heavy rules on them they do choke up

I don't think I have any heavy rules. However, I may try resetting and see what I get. RouterOS is obviously new to me, so its certainly possible I screwed something up.

I looked back in the thread, weren't you gonna pair it with some Omada gear? Im running a RB2011UiAS-RM which has a 200mhz slower cpu and I can max out 300/300

Do you have problems with speedtest.net, or just real life scenarios?

Heres mine on a slower cpu. About matches. You're having real life problems though?

Code:

Right now I have Plex capped at 10Mbps per stream, so no problems yet. But if I opened it up I sure might. And who knows what else might be going on. Is it missing a bunch of shit that has to be retransmitted because the CPU is busy? And, well, I'm paying for it, and the shitty Frontier router can do it without issues.

crap, i did some real life tests and im underperforming too, by a LOT.

I didnt realize how inaccurate speedtest.com/others are for upload

Good job, nerds.

Whelp, guess I'll pick up an Omada router to go along with my APs.

edit: Since I don't know what opnsense is and am terrible with networking, do I even what to know exactly what you're doing and how to set it up ?

go buy the omada.

opnsense is just a router on your hardware. Any old pc with a Intel NIC in it. Its actually super user friendly.
