Fixt.

Replacing the ice maker is the equivalent of replacing the entire AC system of a car. You're taking out a dozen parts that don't work to replace one that doesn't
It was $60 and took 15 minutes. I assume you meant to say 'do work' but that wasn't the case. I mean, the whole thing is like 3 parts.

I also recently replaced a roller for the dishwasher rack. OMG

Look at you! Doing stuff that could actually get you into a civil suit with the manufacturer.

A) This forum is not representative of society as a whole. I build houses, guns, and computers.
2) Fucking dare you to take your phone apart.

uh, fixing shit you own isn't risking a civil suit from the manufacturer.

You don't agree to a EULA when you open the box on a dishwasher or refrigerator.

you'd be amazed.... you likely do.
I've been badgered into agreeing to license agreements when I go to use the stupid "smart" features of my appliances, but there's no "you break this seal and you're legally bound not to fiddle-fart around in the innards of this gizmo" that you're bound to.

its usually in the manual, and it states by using the device, you agree

It's not sticthly enforceable but it does have a chilling effect and if you try to bring a suit later if it fucking explodes you're likely screwed.

This also applies to those roof "warranties" that construction companies give out. If it wasn't installed by a certified tech, in the proper manner, and never modified. Well... I've never seen an insurance company win a roof claim.

My dude, you replaced an entire assembly because one part failed. Its what ZRH was talking about.
"Just buy a whole new one" is not repairing stuff. If you don't get that, then :iono:

Again, you have no idea what or why I'm doing something. The ice maker is really a handful of pieces. In my case, more than one had broken. More importantly, it was $60 which is pretty much 'who cares money'. Could I have probably just printed the ice tray for less, yes, but who cares.

And the only reason you're suggesting that it isn't a repair, even though it clearly is, is because you're left dying on some dumb hill.

Swapping parts isn't necessarily repair.

The entire point is WHO THE FUCK ELSE WOULD DO THAT. Most people I know dont even own a screwdriver. Let alone have the wherewithal to figure out what is wrong and what is needed and would have trashed the entire thing for a new frig. This is a fringe case because THIS FORUM IS PEOPLE WHO ARE ALL SAAVY TO THE SAME SHIT.
