Ontopic String's and Adi's gear & pedal thread

I have a TC Electronic wiretap. Basically it's a recorder in pedal form.
Good for practice and catching those ideas and riffs that come and go in an instant. As long as you remember to turn it on. It does seem more a novelty given other just as easy options for recording.
But it does sound good during playback. So it could be used as a limited looper.

I seem to remember one of the early recording devices used a wire, and I think an early echo device used one.

Ah, the good old days of trying to figure out where to put the RadioShack tape recorder so the entire band could be heard and not just the loud ass drums.
For sure. Knowledge of electronics was still growing. The formulas that speaker designers use didn't even exist at the time. Jimmy Page was one of the early engineers who would mic from a distance.

Tubes ran $500. 12 6l6. 4 12ax7. Tube depot is a good business. Many retailers are far more expensive. A major factory in China burned down. Also, Russian sanctions. Not sure how the Czech JJ factory fits into sanctions but obviously affected. I priced these tubes out 2 years ago they would have run around $340.

New Two Notes Le Bass preamp. Already posted about it. Nothing to see here. Stole the Velcro off the shitty Hartke preamp and put the two notes in it's place. Will be rocking Gastonia tonight. I think I gig more often than @adi!
noice nukes baba :)

A string buzzing again. Damnit!
Neck through or bolt on?
After all those adjustments, it sounds like an uneven/loose fret somewhere on the neck.
Check the nut.
Check the string retainer on the headstock. If there is one.
Buzzing is so annoying.

It's bolt on, @Strings. That bass is way better after I got a pro setup from Wes, my new tech.

So I bought a lemon on Reverb. A super boat anchor fancy wood delight 5 string fretless with bartolini pickups and electronics, ebony board, Kickass (badass V) bridge, ash body and BIRDSEYE WALNUT top!!! Took it to Wes and he could only get the action to medium. Really stiff.

So? I noodle some more. I read the dreaded talkbass regarding this issue. The sexperts all said "fretless neck should have almost no bow in it" so I've done several slight truss rod tightenings. It's a cunthair from being where I like it. Thinking about filing the nut slots.
Taking the action at the bridge down lower gave me KLANK like Wes said it would. So I brought it back up and began to focus on truss rod adjustment.
Sometimes a beautiful piece ain't all that in bed. Hmm. Went back to my purple fretless and apologized lol.

So I tweaked the new bass some more. I'd say the neck is pretty straight now. Makes me frustrated that I do a better setup than the techs do these days. I'm guessing this bass could play like butta with a neck shim and a new bone nut. At the moment it plays like a squier.
