jesus christ. Lowes builder special ceiling fan went up in flames today. Original bulb that came with the fan too. 3 year old was smart enough to come get me so I could cut the electricity and put it out. Proud of the kids, her older sister took her and got her safely away while I was dealing with it. My eyes and throat are still burning from the plastic melting fumes.

Yesterday was the day for fires. Glad you didn't end up like that place in the Bronx

Built a house sign since our mailbox isnt near the house and you cant see the house from the road. I was perfectly fine with my house not being identifiable.... but there are enough reasons that people have to know where it is :/

48 inches tall, labeled both sides, 3/4 inch plastic backer, with 8 inch raised numbers. Wish I had a 3d printer, those #s were expensive.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who would have printed them for you, for nothing...

How in the fuck

I think it was actually the bulb. It had been in the fixture for a couple years, and it failed spectacularly.

I had a CCF lightbulb do the same thing (when CCF bulbs were a thing, before LED bulbs). Scared the fuck out of me when it went.

I really, really want to figure out how to do my blinds. All the consumer grade shit is really expensive.
Didn't we all kind of look into it and realize that outside of the actual mechanical interface between the blind mechanism and the motors used it should be straightforward?
Stepper motor for the angle rod thingie, another for the retractor, and a method to control them and you're pretty much there. Just need to 3D print some parts to connect the two systems.

This was the best walkthrough I could find, but its old. And I want it battery powered.
