They'll take it gladly now that they know you're a PUREBLOOD.Last time I tried to donate blood they rejected me due to my chemotherapy past.

vasovagal syncope is just A Thing that happens to some people, I saw it often when I was still a lab guy - most of the time, people gave me fair warning if they knew it was A Thing that has happened to them before so I could prepare appropriately, but sometimes tough guys thought they could power through it this time and those are the dinks that we had to scramble to keep from falling out of the chair & one time I got trapped with my face in a pee pant crotch bc of it.I should go donate. I’m just nervous cause I always get so lightheaded when they take my blood for testing and come close to passing out. Not fear of needles or blood, I just have low blood pressure.
I need someone to hold my hand.
@AppleTurkey had a decent bout of that when the doc lanced the massive infection I had on the surgical line right below my belly button and it shot gray goo all over the floor, walls, and ceiling.vasovagal syncope is just A Thing that happens to some people, I saw it often when I was still a lab guy - most of the time, people gave me fair warning if they knew it was A Thing that has happened to them before so I could prepare appropriately, but sometimes tough guys thought they could power through it this time and those are the dinks that we had to scramble to keep from falling out of the chair & one time I got trapped with my face in a pee pant crotch bc of it.
one upside to donation is they typically have you in a recliner to begin with, so it's a lot easier to keep you from falling down/out, and anecdotally people who reported they usually passed out during blood draw rarely to never did so when we laid them down to take their blood.
that said, if you can get someone to go with you, that still sounds like a really good idea bc bodies is weird and if you do have a reaction it's going to feel way safer/less disorienting having someone there, but also if you can't find someone and don't feel comfortable trying it alone, no pressure, bb. all that up there was intended to be info to comfort & normalize & help if that's something you want, and it's not intended to pressure or guilt you into doing it, & I'm just pleased as pie that you're even considering it. I do be soapboxin' and most of the time it's for naught
I've always thought the laying down was better - not like you're gonna twist your head to watch the blood leaving. That gets me a little so of course, I wonder if other people might have the same sensation.vasovagal syncope is just A Thing that happens to some people, I saw it often when I was still a lab guy - most of the time, people gave me fair warning if they knew it was A Thing that has happened to them before so I could prepare appropriately, but sometimes tough guys thought they could power through it this time and those are the dinks that we had to scramble to keep from falling out of the chair & one time I got trapped with my face in a pee pant crotch bc of it.

I always had to drink orange juice before I could even consider standing up after the beginning appts when they take a bunch. I'd love to donate blood, but I'm a bit selfish. It takes like 4+ days for me to recover enough to run without wanting to pass out or puke. :|
Running after donating blood is fucking HORRIBLE. Do not recommend. @APRIL did it recently and it took her about a week to recover. You're supposed to use a needle not a kitchen knife.
You know, I watched for my vasectomy, watched this doc pry this fatty growth out of my chest, watched/helped with all kids being born. Sometimes I'm good with the blood, other times it makes me feel weak watching them take a shit load. Not sure if psychological or physical. hmm, I'm basically in perfect health, maybe I should consider it.I always watch.
I'm shooting for double reds Monday but if my Hgb isn't high enough for that it should at least be high enough for a regular donation.I did it once after doing a "double red" and bonked after like 3k.
I like doing the ALYX machine cause during it my arm feels cold and funny and my mouth tastes weird.I'm shooting for double reds Monday but if my Hgb isn't high enough for that it should at least be high enough for a regular donation.
@fly says that about blowing senior citizens.I like doing the ALYX machine cause during it my arm feels cold and funny and my mouth tastes weird.
You're the only senior citizen I've said that about!@fly says that about blowing senior citizens.
