Ontopic The Shooting Thread

so sad all around.
he will be forever fucked over this.
wat

Whatever happened was accidental. I'm sure he'll be broken up about it for a while, but "forever fucked"? That guy went into a coke rage on an airplane and wasn't "forever fucked". He'll be back to work before the end of next week, I'm sure.

i forgot
going on a coke rage is the same as KILLING someone

i’ve gone on 100 coke rages in my days and i can guarantee you that killing someone accidentally would be at the top of “things that will forever fuck me up” list

You killed your kid by leaving for McDonalds instead of watching him, slore.

it was a tragic mistake but it was also incredibly foreseeable and preventable, not just in the sense that it has happened on other sets before in the past but in the sense that there had already been several incidents on this particular set specifically involving firearms and the union film crew walked off THAT MORNING citing it as a key reason for their departure. even if you can be understanding of people just getting too comfortable/lax about gun safety (which I cannot), after it has already happened SEVERAL TIMES on set and by the grace of whatever you managed not to have killed anyone, you take that as a fucking sign and you tighten your shit up.

the protocol for handing out prop guns is supposed to involve a whole hand-off situation where the armorer demonstrates for themselves and the actor(s) in the scene that the weapon is safe/cold (not just saying so); visually inspecting that it's clear, firing in a safe direction #n times, rechecking that it's clear, before handing it directly to the actor. Alec Baldwin isn't new to any of this, and he's one of the people in charge on that set, so to me it's unconscionable that he'd just take the AD at his word that the gun was cold, ESPECIALLY after having had a previous incident where a hot gun was called as cold (also the AD should never have been involved in the handoff to begin with). even if Alec doesn't know what to check for, he could have said "hold on a sec, I want you to show me that it's safe first."

several different people fucked up for this to have happened, and I think the majority of his culpability in this incident relates to the conditions on set that led to the union walk-off, but I also think that it was unforgivably stupid for him to have trusted that the gun was cold based only on verbal confirmation from someone who isn't the armorer.

Worth pointing out that Baldwin owns the production company (El Dorado Pictures) that's filming the movie and allowed this whole pile of shit to happen.

He's culpable.

how do you know he hasn’t been in therapy or isn’t currently in therapy?
how do people come to these assumptions about people they don’t even personally know
Because every year he has a story where he allows his rage to spill over. If he was in therapy he'd eventually stop doing that. He hasn't, ergo...
