Ontopic Games Thread of love

no not at all, they made it look like a walking simulator
At times it kind of is. Best to blast through the opening (3?) chapters because it really starts to open up after that as far as your equipment and what you can do. One of my favorite games: great if you like problem solving, exploiting mechanics, and games as art. There are lots of different ways to approach each challenge and then sometimes shit goes sideways and you're scrambling to figure out a new strategy.

Story is wacky, because Kojima, but parts of it resonated deeply with where I was at in life at the time. Really can't stress how great the mechanics are, once you "get it" it all flows so nicely and gives you that feeling of near limitless power. Lots of "no fucking way!" moments in both the story and what you are able to do.

Also get to watch Norman Reedus piss, shit, and shower. Lol

It is a Kojima game so be prepared for cutscenes. No real endgame to speak of, which was kind of a plus because I have addiction issues.

One of my friends used to be a top CS competitive player. He had like 4000 hours in 1.6. He was really good at those custom bunny hopping maps too. Ones where you're like hopping up a cliff or tree or spire.

So I've been experimenting with Twitch streaming, playing Secret of Mana. Unfortunately I get a crapton of dropped frames I think mostly due to my shit internet connection 15M/1.2M DSL. Set at 720p 1500kbit bitrate (lowest setting that twitch software will select). Can't wait for Starlink. Also I'm learning that there is sooooo much to doing a pro stream. I can see why it is a bitch to get setup correctly.

Those are surf maps. I used to get into them during my Source days.

1.2 up is no good for streaming. So many ppl stream in HD now so you have to do the same if you want to gain viewers. And most full time streamers have a dedicated second PC just for capturing and running the stream.

Have you not heard of ppl making a lot of money streaming? Never heard of Shroud, Summit1g, or Dr Disrespect?
While it is true that you can make a living being a streamer, it's a lot of work and takes forever to build up a following. Those listed there were on the streaming train from the beginning. Starting out now is super difficult.

True. Shroud and Summit1g were pro Counter Strike players before becoming full time streamers. Same with Ninja being a fornite pro before full time streaming. However I have seen some streamers build themselves up without being a pro beforehand. Like the Rust streamer Pheetus. Though like you said, he's put in a lot of work to build up his fan base. It is possible to do, you just have to figure out how to stand out from the crowd in a positive way.
