Pics Poost ye dagz.

Loving the idea. Big enough to keep up. I'm rather impressed with this little guys tenacity - followed me 300' to the street, walking in a tire track walled in by 10"+ snow, I turned around, he keeps up the pace all the way back. He was wormed the day before I got him and a bit lethargic. Totally full of "piss and vinegar" this morning. Got himself riled at a tennis ball that wouldn't play - barked at it!:p
A heeler will wear himself out to the point of injury. He'll rely on you for limits.

I guess it's good I'm old. Maybe he'll kill me. Maybe this is my opportunity to get some mini-goats - for Sonic's benefit.
When Scout came home, @AppleTurkey would let her walk with the other dogs for about 1/2 mile, then pick her up and carry her in a backpack the rest of the way to the park, where they'd play.

If you're a single-dog household, that's probably not as big a concern.

In the pup market today, white whiskers were declining while blues made large advances. Analysts say "hold on", there won't be any white's left by next Monday.
Swear to god his white side has gained 2 shade of blue in 2 days. Sneaky little shit!

ok, 950 miles and probably $750(including hotel, food, gas), I present "Sonic"
Aussie Cattle Dog/ Blue Heeler(all blue, the lady said! No snappy reds.)
weighing in at 8 lbs even, 9" over the shoulders. Born December 13th - just a bay-bay! He cried at a stair yesterday, took that stair like a b#tch today!
Had his travel crate positioned so I could pet him anytime over the 460 miles home.

Thanks folks. Yeah, loving having a puppy again - the fighting with toys, trudging through snow, taking him face2face with chickens. Keeping me hustling, but fits in nice with my normal "flow" - I do a little watch work, run downstairs and check my kilns, back up, take out dog for 10 minutes, screw off on UF for 10 minutes, repeat.
*We STILL have the family spaz who JUST ThIS MORNING posted a name we should consider. ffs

Hopefully with exposure and training he'll become friends with the chooks, or at least protective of them if nothing else.

Mine would both harass at least one generation of them to death before they got the idea.

how's the potty training going?

how's the potty training going?
At this age it's us 2-leggers that have to be trained. We have about 2' sleighbell hanging on front door, have used on all dogs. Drill: go to crate, breathlessly say "OUSIDE!", grab pup gently, run for door, repeat "Outside", ring the bells and dash out. It works - last dog would punk us to "go" when he had just been out. Lay down in front of the door like "yes?" fucker.

He is definitely different in the head than any of our previous dogs. Velcro's himself to your feet(tripping danger) or leads the way if he knows where he is going. Doesn't eat like a pig. Has to be reminded it's there but he is taking the right amount in.:iono: The color change is funny, like Benjamin Button, younger with each day.
I fear for the chickens - I can see I will need to keep the dog away .i.e secondary fencing.

We had a sleighbell on the door for the cats for a while too. Worked decent, but ended up just deciding that we'd rather hear them meow.

Yes. ~16 years ago, we were at my mother's for Christmas. She was a flight attendant and thought that Mo would like to play with them. She was running around shouting "Liquor" and chasing after "Win'son"
Hey, could be worse. I once accidentally bought alcoholic root beer and gave it to my kids (didn't know it was a thing at the time). They didn't drink more than a couple swallows, but I'll never live it down here.
