Ontopic The new car-seching thread

I can do that in any number of fun cars that don't creak and croak when I touch the climate control though.

I got mine when it was 3 years old back in 2005. No creaks at that point. Old cars generally have some noises. I think you've got an axe to grind.

I think you're just mad that not everybody is interested in fellating you over your car choices.

Congratulations, you bought the safe, obvious, and boring choice. Did it come with the smug sense of superiority, or did you have that beforehand?

Mr. Sensitive! Go cry to your wife. I couldn't care less.

It's got a vastly better drive train. Apparently that doesn't matter to you.

They're both double wishbone front, and the geometry isn't vastly different. The semi-trailing arm in the rear of the C4 should actually be better than the double wishbone at preventing wheel hop, since the bushings are under compression load at launch rather than shear load.

Regardless, I've got more HP and torque than the best ZR1 and Z06 magazine mules came with sitting in my garage right now.

If you just wanted your turn to dick wave, that's fine. We're all friends here. Let'er rip. No reason to engage in this angry dance beforehand. We all like what we like and that's fine.

When I go to car events (which is frequent, because I enjoy car people for the most part), there are two groups I can't stand. The corvette owners, and the mopar owners. The corvette owners, because they'll talk up a blue streak about how xyz feature is sooooo superior to any and everything (yet when was the last time any of them took the car to a track day or autocross and deigned to get a smudge on their white new balance shoes? Never). The mopar owners, because they invariably have the "1 of 12 with the reversed cigarette lighter/ashtray combo over cordoba leather" which automatically makes their car worth eleventy billion dollars.

I respect the Z06 as a car. I just have no desire to own one, because I'm not a ridiculous fart sniffer. I'd rather drive my cars and let them prove their own points.

Thoughts on Tesla's recall?

I think this is very interesting as more and more cars go with touchscreens and more controls that are safety-related and not just base functions are included in these screens. Germany already declared Tesla's wiper control illegal.

This recall will be hardware-specific, but its hardware affects the safety controls only found through the touchscreen. Are more QA tests for software going to be mandated for car makers going forward? Are other functionalities going to have to be removed from the touchscreen and put into manual control?

Its almost as if people with no experience designing cars are designing cars!

Boring axe to grind. Go away.

Consumer Reports just came out with a list of car owners and thoughts on different dynamics of a car. The best "driving experience" car in midsize and large was the Chrysler 300.

This is why the US cannot have nice things.
