My surgery cost $14,000 roughly. I literally was in the hospital for 4 fucking hours. My appendix surgery was $23,000 and I was in the hospital for 2.5 days. WTF. Yes, I have insurance. I'm on the hook for like $6000 after my deductible and 30% co-pays. Fuck this medical system.

Call the billing office and say you can’t pay because Covid. They’ll drop those charges right down by a bunch.

Jesus, no wonder people vote for Bernie

Exactly 1 month post surgery. The 2" open wound is now the size of a quarter and maybe a 1" deep. Not bleeding much anymore. My back is getting better, still some lingering pain from pinched nerve. I'd say like 70% recovered. Back to work mostly. Holding off on any crazy physical jobs (like pulling data cabling) until I'm 100% though. Taking it easy as much as possible.

It's pretty amazing how skin can heal itself over. Also this is life surgery #7. I'm fucking done. No more.

So glad to hear you're on the mend. Yeah, computer work can surprisingly fuck up your back. Everything is going good, you crane your back to look at the backside of a machine (slightly upside down). Next thing you know, you're pressing your back against a wall or ANYTHING, hoping you can flatten your back so the pain stops so you don't scream like a bitch and scare the client. Give it time homes - there will still be work when you come back stronger.

Eddie and I could drive up there and do some light yard work / help out if needed.
Keep an eye on Eddie though, he might start a war with your local woodchuck population.
