Our favourite chippy is shut for 10 days due a COVID case. Properly gutted. Worse Friday ever.
In the US they don't shut down, they're just *supposed to* temp check all the employees everyday. Y'know, to make sure they don't have the virus that can be spread for a business week before the infected person shows symptoms like fever.

looking back pre-covid
all those people, germs and nasty breathing all over the food, possibly being touched, i don’t miss them so much

People are nasty but being exposed to their grossness also keeps our basic immune systems strong.

This "hermit" (really just a thief) lived alone in the woods and didn't have direct contact with another human being for 27 years. One of the things mentioned in the book about it is that he never got sick the whole time.

You don't need people to keep your immune system strong. Your immune system is constantly under attack anyway. Molds, bacteria, viruses, yeast, and various other parasites are all over the food we eat, the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the ground we walk on.

They are. That's also not the whole story.

Well now I need to know what happened to the poor guy after they let him go

Couldn't find a whole lot.
These are really about a podcast and a documentary other people did about the guy but can glean he work for his brother at a junkyard and lived with his mom for awhile and now has his own place in some little town and works at an auto shop.

Between that stuff and the book I hope he's getting some mailbox money.

so.
we kept Daphne home all last week just to be safe, BIL's test came back negative by Wednesday but he had a small cough by then. but, by the end of the week it was gone and we chalked it up to something minor/transient, and yesterday we brought her back to grandma's where her cousins (his kids) also were.
today, none of the kids are there/they're all home bc my FIL had a TKA yesterday and comes home today, but I got this text from SIL
