Food The (not so) delicious food thread

Last night was Italian night. Someone made lots of ciabatta so we had: bruschetta, panzanella, garlic bread, pizza, lasagne, spinach and ricotta canelloni and tiramisu for dessert. Everything home made including the vegan ricotta and the vegan marscapone for the tiramisu. I think the tiramisu was the best one I've ever had in my life.

if i ate all them carbs i’d die

Brisket was on stupid cheap at the grocery store. $3.49/lb CAD, which is probably expensive by US standards, but normally that's a $10/lb hipster cut the rare time you do see it for sale.

Cutting it in half. Fat side is getting made into newfoundland style salt beef, lean side is getting made into montreal smoked meat.

update: cut into the brisket.

Got 2.5kg from the fat side curing in brine to make NL style salt beef, 3kg off the flat dry curing to make montreal smoked meat, and a little over 2kg of fat trimmings rendering in the instant pot, which is gonna be used to fry up a dirty feed of french fries tomorrow.

Dude sounds great.

Before I was homeless. I bought a wagyu a5 pichana ($30 a pound). I had the fat trimmings saved. Was going to use them to make fries for poutine.
