also, none of the folks asking "where are all the conservative gun nuts" are asking in earnest because everyone knows their dedication to "freedom" & "liberty" is conditional to when it benefits them and only as concerns 2a. it's the same as asking where the NRA was when Philando Castile was killed or back when then-Governor Reagan passed sweeping gun restrictions in CA.

They actually took alot of flack from members for that. They did throw a fit about the VI banning guns last year. Stop trying to make it a race thing, they are historically weak on backing progun stuff that's why there is the SFA etc. Wtf did they do about bump stocks? Just they are the ones with the leverage.

I didn't mention race.

the point was that right wing 2a folks are inconsistent, & asking where they are to protest this tyranny is intended to point that out and not to actually request their help

They also got alot of criticism for showing up to protest gun laws in VA etc. So... Stop doing something after people complain about it, get criticized for not doing it...

No one has reached out to them to be like oh yeah your concerns are valid too.

Shit works both ways.

Oh we're playing this game now.
it was literally the 2 I could think of where I knew they waffled, it wasn't intended to be specifically related to race because there's a shit ton of other things they're inconsistent about, too (like pro-life except when they need an abortion bc that's different and also no support for the kids, etc)

Don't fucking even. Pro-life and 2a are not overlapping.

I'm not following you on this, & I'm gonna try coming at it fresh:

nobody expected the people who stormed the capitals to protest the tyranny of masks to actually protest legitimate tyranny.

the gun piece of it is just tacked onto it because a lot of conservatives/right-leaning people who are pro-gun use needing to defend against a tyrannical government as the reason why they need those weapons (which is specifically why a lot of them were carrying at the mask protests which had nothing to do with guns) and I do not disagree that that is a legitimate concern (and we don't have to rehash the they-wouldn't-win debate, either, because it's irrelevant to this point).

my inclusion of the pro/anti-choice piece was a poor attempt to explain that it's not specifically about guns, it's about hypocrisy. I'm hoping I did a better job this time.

I was talking precovid.

After the elections last year the VA legislature decided they were gonna try to push through a bunch of antigun legislation so legally armed people showed up. It wouldn't have been my move but...

You are also picking and choosing to 2a narrative. I've always been in the you dont need a reason camp. I'm not justifying what I want to the government. They're cool. I should be able to have them.

The whole pro-life gun rights thing stems from the Republicans coopting both 2a issues and the religious right in the eighties which... Ugh.
