Ontopic The new car-seching thread

I don't use their jacks, but jack stands were, I thought, too basic to get wrong.

Turns out, I was incorrect.
oh, harbor freight pot metal was infamous back in the day. That was the stuff that broke most often. The power tools were actually super reliable, but anything that was solid metal that you need to put some force on was gonna blow up in your face

So, after warming the cat up and blowing it out, the smoke is gone.

I've got one last issue to resolve, in that the "cam and crank seal" that the parts catalog showed for my car doesn't actually fit the crank, so it's pissing oil out the front seal.

Fortunately, the seal fairy visited me, with the correct one.

The "fits both" seal is 47x32x10mm. The "fits the crank" seal is 48x35x10mm.

Not excited about figuring out how I'm going to get the old one out. I can get the timing belt done in about 1:15 now though, so it hopefully won't take very long.

Same dimensions as a 1.8T crank seal. I've done that seal.

I just screwed a few wood screws (#6, maybe?) into the seal and pulled it out.

This worked a treat, thank you.

Used an itty-bitty drill bit to start the hole, and then screwed some drywall screws in, got my pry bar and yanked 'er right out.

Well, that's certainly not gonna get taken out by a woodchuck.

Making progress on my old slow shit. Timing's done, head's torqued down, and save for some M6s I need to buy, the timing cover is on.

Gonna set the valve lash tomorrow when the feeler gauges come home, and then put the oil pan on and the valve cover, and maybe stab the oil pump/distributor quill.

Should have used the light to test out my pressure washer with the simple green concrete cleaner.

The Audi leaked something just short of "Valdez" levels of oil all over it last weekend, and I need to clean it.

This thing is ridiculous and I want one.
