before the state Supreme Court lifted our restrictions, WI had some of the lowest numbers in the midwest, neck and neck with MI who also took an aggressive stance. I'll be interested to see how those statistics change now, though thankfully the two most populous counties have maintained measures

iI guess it’s too soon to see if your Covid cases have spiked since lifting the restrictions

Our states numbers are coming down overall, yet our county remains largely closed, the county officials won't make public any numbers regarding the alleged metric we're following to reopen.

You can go golfing and use a driving range, but I can't get my teeth cleaned or get a haircut.

In fairness, it's a lot easier to socially distance on a golf course than at a hair salon.

A hairdresser can get infected by a heck of a lot of people, and infect a hell of a lot more people, and there ain't much you can do to minimize it vs requiring the hairdresser wear some serious PPE.

I went to jail yesterday. Women's correctional facility though. Jokes aside, I was brought in to fix internet connectivity so the inmates could take their college classes. Have had no internet for a week. Just needed to reset the modem. Then restore server network settings back to original settings. Everyone, COs, admins, and myself wore masks. I wore gloves also. They didn't have any reported infections at the women's facility but up the hill the men's facility reported their first case. The admin told me as I was leaving, but said they don't share COs or other staff between the facilities.

Our state officials have allowed hair salons and barbers to open back up as of a couple weeks ago, but not nail salons and they probably won't be allowed to open (originally June 1) until end of June or July. Not sure I understand the difference between the two jobs being both in close proximity to their clients and seeing lots of people. And nail salon techs already wear PPE.

They're both islands. They still have no checks, quarantines or testing at Heathrow as far as I'm aware and since lockdown freely allowed over 1800 private planes to fly in without checking. Our plan was awful compared to Oz's.
Maybe the virus is just afraid of the snakes and spiders in Australia

nail stuff involves a lot of grinding & that stuff that gets ground off ends up everywhere. the PPE helps, like wearing a mask during grinding, but in this situation, because the virus can persist so long, it could probably be spread when Person A's nail grindings land on Person B's clothes/hair.

I mentioned that we had a friend who got CV19. His wife finally got tested and tested negative for antibodies. :wtf:
it could be that she has antibodies but her levels are below the measurable threshold (and like, afaik we don't really know how long the antibodies we do get persist because it varies from person to person and it's so early in the testing/research process)

If it was the nasal swab test then negative means nothing as it's so unreliable.

There's always the theory because most nail places are Asian. I've seen that one tossed around a bit lately.

ah gotcha, dust particles. Now that I think more about that, that's kinda gross. People need to stand inside a clean chamber to get their nails done

A wholesale bakery here was trying to prove a point that the measures they took to open back up where working. They had mandatory masks, staggered schedules, temps taken multiple times a day, etc. They tested the entire staff of 770 to show there’s nothing to fear with opening up and 113 were positive even with the measures.
