Food The (not so) delicious food thread

Why do you need a "bread maker" to make bread?
I've already got a kitchenaid + bread pans. But I had a bunch of aeroplan points to burn through or I'd lose them, and it looked like the most useful of what was on there - I suppose I could have got a wine chiller or a $50 Swiss Chalet gift card instead.

I like the idea of firing in flour/yeast/whatever, hitting a couple buttons, and some time later pulling a ball of dough out of it I can use to make dinner rolls, pizza dough, toutons or whatever.

Also picked up a Breville "Smart Oven Air" which I've had for a week now. Seems pretty decent.

How does the Impossible burger patty rate? I have yet to try it, but I will someday based on what I’ve heard. It’s supposedly better, texture-wise also.
Its pretty good. I havent had dead cow for a few years now but they seem to be getting close to it. The chicken substitutes seem to be closer approximations, so much so I had fake chicken in a burrito not long ago and felt nauseous. Had quorn chicken nuggets last night, theyre great. I have no idea why some animal based foods still exist given there's viable alternatives. Quorn fish fingers are even better than fish based ones for example. Soy yoghurt is just like cow juice yoghurt etc.

Id recommend any burger or sausage based on pea protein, those seem to be excellent, especially like chorizo style sausages etc.

Thanks

Roomie had his third Impossible Whopper last evening and for the third time, he said it was excellent. I took a peek at it after a few bites were taken, and it looked exactly like a BK meat patty. Take that for what it’s worth.

Some of us don't like being nutrient deficient. :p

I wouldnt know about such things. It does amuse me that vegan or veggies get lectured on nutrition deficiencies by people living in a country where its perfectly fine to eat fat, greasy take out and soda pop all day and ive yet to see anyone talking about their variety or nutrition. God forbid people eat lots of nutritious vegetables though, that wouldnt be sustainable in any way. God, i wonder how Indian populations survived.

Deer, turkey, American bison(buffalo), rabbit, fish & other seafood. There may be nutrition based reasons they hadn't advanced technology much, therefore falling prey/victim to human groups who had. That and their failure to figure out calories could be stored as alcohol for later use.

While not being vegan, I also don't eat the 'standard American diet' that you refer to either. I'd rather be vegan than eat that shit. But because I'm an omnivore, I don't have to plan my diet around iron and amino acid deficiencies.

But really I'm just fucking with you.

edit: Also B12, for @Ledboots omnivore bingo. :D

Found a decent deep-dish pizza in Austin, at Conan's Pizza, on Burnet.

Plus the walls are chock full o' Frazetta art, tits and all. Felt very 1980s. Totally rad.

We still have like 3 of those black round pans they make it in, use em quite a bit.
Her kid and a couple of his friends used to work there as young guys.

And yes, it's good pizza.
