Ontopic New Car Thread!

I hate people.
Day off, woke up late, eatin breakfast. Get an alert that my closest yard has an F150 of my year that just got dropped off. Pictures show that its my mirror style, they show nice straight body lines, and best of all they show power windows and locks. Not something I have, but something I've wanted as long as I've had the truck. It even has nice seats and a center console which I might like to get.
I finish up my food, pack my tools and haul ass.
I get there, I'm almost giddy as I push my wheelbarrow full of tools to the row. I arrive on the driver's side and no one has gotten there yet! Completely intact!

I start looking at how to disconnect the wiring from the harness, then I wander over to the passenger side.

The trained monkey they have operating the forklift didn't know what the fuck they were doing and let the truck slide into the fence of the forklift. Entire passenger side is caved in. Its worse than my truck. Can't even open the door.

I just packed my shit and left.

And just like that, out with the 740cc injectors, in with the 1200cc injectors.

Got some cleanup on the manifold to do before I put everything back together - adding the VW idle valve and redoing some vacuum hose connections. Also got to put in the new brake booster.

Fancy fuel rails make this so easy:

The Fit shot a plug on the way to work this morning.

Apparently it's a common thing on the L15 motor, the plugs walk loose over time and need to be retightened. Lots of pictures of shot plugs/broken coilpacks on fitfreak and WELL YOU SHOULDA TIGHTENED YER PLUGS comments.

Shop: "There's no way in fuck we can get a helicoil in your engine without pulling the head. We just can't get in there."

They're doing up a quote, and shortly I get to decide whether the Fit is worth fixing or scrap. :/

My truck is 6 years old in April, it'll have prolly 54K miles on it.

Other than the rollup tonneau cover and WeatherTech floor mats, I haven't done anything to it. The spray on Berliner was free courtesy of the transport company scratching the bed up.

Might be time for some mods.

I will never understand people who have nice cars that put weathertech floormats in them.

Granted, #ProfessionalGrade up there ain't a nice car, but I see it on shit like Audis and Mercedes all the time.

"Hey, look at my beautiful interior, right over the top of these floor mats that hold the sand of a thousand beaches in plain sight!"

The verdict: $200 parts (head gasket, head bolts, other gaskets, plugs) + $700 labor.

I should be able to sell the car for $2K. Gonna fix it and sell it.

Pull the head yourself. It can't be that hard.
I looked up the process. Soooo much shit gotta come apart. This is a 1st gen fit, 2nd gen is apparently worse.

Meh. That doesn't seem too bad. On my red thing, the first step would be to pull the whole motor.

I don't have your skills/tools/experience, and I've got other shit to be at.

And hey, this is the first time I've had a mechanic do anything other than an inspection on the Fit, so I think I've still got most of my I FIXED IT MAHSELF pride still intact.
