Hawt Movies you are excited about

Just finished reading The Goldfinch (@Dharma1521), but it looks like the movie was rated super poorly. dang. I love watching the movie after reading the book.

I've read The Goldfinch novel a couple of years ago and didn't expect that it would get a film-adaptation. The same goes for The Art of Racing in the Rain. Reviews are terrible, the films are flawed by I still enjoyed watching it.

Magnus - 7.5 / 10

Documentary following the upbringing and development of Magnus Carlson the Norwegian chess prodigy. Brilliant.

watched the shining for the first time.

that's right, the first time.

i see why king hated it. perfectly executed for its own version of the story but lacking some bits of the original story that I would have preferred. like king's ending. and maybe a bit more background on jack before he just kinda randomly goes insane.

Would have loved the topiary animals instead of that dumb ass maze.
That's more an effects issue, though.

I always took the part when Wendy reads what he's been writing the entire time they've been there as an indication he's been slipping in and out of sanity the entire time.

Ive never watched it from start to finish. I believe I have seen it all but not in one sitting

I feel like king's original bit with danny's powers actually being the climax would have made a lot more sense and been a lot more effective than kubrick's "kid with special powers runs good" ending. in the movie, danny is pretty much completely inconsequential. you take out his powers and everything still happens the same way more or less.

the movie was way more about jack, which is completely fine, but if that's the case then explain more about jack instead of this background on his kid's powers that don't matter. idk man. some missteps in the screenplay to me.
