Advice The Home Improvement/Automation Thread

Sounds like a computer guy screwup or a whoever puts together manuals and parts lists screwup, not really anything wrong with the actual freezer.

When they get it figured out they ought to just give you a couple shelves with a thank-you note for finding the error.

That kinda thing is how you turn a dissatisfied customer into a loyal one.
I want some of what you are smoking. ;) Yeah, that would be cool. I've never had a large company do something magnanimous like that. Guess you don't get big by being nice.

One of the reasons they won’t survive. It’s too bad too because Sears used to be fantastic.

Yep. How many times has Amazon said "just keep it" when they sent somebody the wrong thing, then still sent them the right thing?

That wire rack ain't costing Sears much at wholesale but the way they're handling it certainly could.

And Sears should’ve tried harder to be Amazon before Amazon. It’s only partly their fault they didn’t go the way everyone else is, with automation and fewer yumans and whatever yumans you still need can be underpaid and fucked upon. With. You get it.

I'm not a fan of Walmart but to their credit they did about the best of the big retailers as far as seeing what's coming with web business and getting ahead of it, making use of it. Some of the others have become dinosaurs.

I wouldn't buy food this way but even grocery stores here have it now where you can order all your stuff on a phone app and they'll bring it out and load it in your car. Even got special parking spots set aside for it.
And/or contract with a 3rd party private courier to bring it to your house.

We're all gonna become shut-ins with nothing but a digital link and screen to the outside world.

People at Sears were stupidly short sighted when the Internet came about. They had catalogues in millions of households but they dragged ass getting into the Internet. Not saying people wouldn't have flocked to Amazon, etc. since it was new. But they were in the lead position in the USA FFS.
And hung hung onto their dead-weight B&M stores too long - they recently bulldozed one here that stayed open 10-15 years too long imo. Usually had 2-3 employees to each customer.

I'm so pissed at the thought of paying shipping TWICE I may keep them. They're only 1.5 inches too narrow - I have some stainless rod I could cut to the right length, slip into the holes and lay the racks on top. Done. Or I take $50 in the ass to get $55 back.

I almost used that service at out local Kroger-owned chain after the hospital stay. I would’ve if I didn’t have a conscientious roomie to do it.

That is fucked up. Please try harder at getting them to cover the shipping. It’s their mistake, not yours.

"I am sorry but Sears cannot cover shipping for items ordered in error." FUCK YOU PEOPLE!!!!!

But yeah, I always cover shipping both ways as an "apology" for delaying their order with my home biz. I.E. I refund their original shipping, the return shipping and pay the outgoing shipping, at no cost to the customer. Sometimes I totally lose my ass. I try to keep that to a minimum and they keep coming back.

I’d be looking to add to this or one like it:

I did a bad review on a place once and they made it right PDQ.

Some will, some won't. Had one where I took pictures, posted it to their FB page after getting nowhere with their customer dis-service. Then they dug their heels in. Fortunately I could repurpose the item and my butt didn't hurt too bad.

My boss totally freaks if we get a bad review. We're a 4.8 stars(Google). All 5 stars except the 2 nutters who gave a "1 stars". What really sucks is that those "Google local expert" folks can review/rate your biz without ever having used your biz. WTF!

Grocery delivery or pick up is amazing.

i feel like thats only ok for canned goods and stuff. Like if you're getting produce or fruit or whatever, theyre just gonna grab whatevers first at hand and itll be crap

I had the same concern at first, but they seem to actually do pretty well picking out the produce.
We havent gotten anything that was fucked up or borderline-spoiled or anything
