Ontopic String's and Adi's gear & pedal thread

Now to wire her up.

Bridge wasn't necessary but I've been have a ground issue. When I took the bridge of the ground was just laying there, never had solder on it.

Any I've seen don't. Just contact from being squished under the bridge.

I lay a piece of aluminum foil there (or copper tape), lay the stripped wire end on top of that, and screw the bridge down over that for a little extra assurance. Never once had a problem. Never soldered it to the bridge.

Sounds like the best option.

Are these springs going to ground out my pickups? Should I remove the copper from around them?

Springs are usually going up against plastic inside or outside of the pickups.
These touch the pickup magnet and there is metal in the bottom of the whole the spring goes in. Very strange.

Yeah they will.
Good alternative: some electrical tape over the copper tape between the springs and the cavity.

I'm thinking about putting electrical tape on the magnet where the springs would touch it. Would that work?

That is strange. They wanted the springs to be backfacing pole pieces. Idea was, you wear a belt buckle made of steel or nickel and you will have this subtle little tremolo things as your bass or pelvis moves in relation to the other. Yes, this is a dumbz concept but I'm leaving it. I can take it.

I'd just put some at both ends of the spring while you're in there.

It won't cut the signal or make any noticeable difference in sound touching the magnet but whatever, do it anyway while it's apart.

I either did a bad job shielding, me thinks not, or I have something else going on. It acts like it's not properly grounded but I'm sure it's grounded correctly. I'm starting to think the issue is with the pickups and not the wiring or shielding.

All 3 pots are grounded to the shielding. Only one is connected to the pickup.

I get the noise whether I'm touching the strings or not.

try shielding only one pot and see if it makes any difference, its prob the pickup like you say though :)
