The wife thought she was gonna be brave and do the birthing without the epidural(i think thats what its called)
The first real contraction hit and I heard her hollering from down the hall
They and the dope-guy there in about 30 seconds after that :fly:

never even got that far on either of ours.

1) kid had a 2 outta 10 biophysical profile, had to come out immediately. Still dont know what happened there, as when she came out, she was not perfect, but not 2 outta 10 which is basically dead.

2) Tiny, far apart contractions, but no active labor, and just ran outta time. Had to hit the scheduled c-section cause kid was huge. Still is huge.

some people have a very specific idea of what birth is going to be like/what they'll want/how they'll handle it

I'm anxious & pessimistic enough to know shit WILL go sideways, so I told my docs my plan is to do whatever they think is best to keep us both safe and healthy. and as for pain meds, as long as it's safe I'll probably want 'em, though I'm wary bc I haven't fucked with pain meds much & don't want to find out another one I'm allergic to while I'm in labor :lol:

yeah. We had a full on flow chart for the first kid... which all went out the window immediately. Second kid... yeah, no plan. Whatever happens happens

The boy took 6 hours, got into the ward at 2AM, was done at 8AM.

The girl took 15 minutes. Got to the ward at 8PM, they told her to clench and not push so they could get a bed ready for her because on the triage table she was already 10cm. Got in at 8:30, was done by 8:45.

I realize i might be doing things that would scare august.

Take this away from it: Even when shit goes sideways, it still all turns out ok, cause doctors are good at their jobs

at this point I don't think anyone who isn't my doctor telling me something is actively wrong can scare me any more than I've already scared myself, but thanks to a lifetime of anxiety I'm mostly handling it :fly:

I hope you go 5-7 days past the 4th. The kid will always feel ripped off if they have to share b-day with a holiday.
