And make sure you dry it out really well before you use it, because it absorbs water to the point where your printer will hiss and pop when it prints.

Also, print slow (say, 30mm/s or less) - since you're printing small gears you might want to go even slower.
Man, that first layer went down like a dream following their settings (45°C on a glass bed with PVA).

I'll see in 3h or so whether it comes out. Looks a little stringy between the gears right now. (E3D metal hot end with hardened steel 0.4mm nozzle and a metal extruder tension mechanism).

Where'd you get your touch sensor? What do I need to ensure is in the kit?
Looks like I need to do the arduino in it anyways in order to flash the firmware, so I might as well upgrade that as well
I got the BLTouch (the genuine one from antclabs, with 1M extension cables). I also ended up buying the pin 27 board, so that I wouldn't screw up the ribbon cable.
 
im kinda glad i havent gotten into this, as i would have gone complete overkill and likely taken up the living room with a 480v laser sintering metal printer by now, that didnt work, because i tried to cheap out and buy a broken one that i would try to fix.

uhh, how you gonna do the water filled table if its vertical. Or are you just gonna have enough space that you only light your backing on fire, but dont cut it

Was planning on putting a non-flammable backing on it. Not going to be cutting anything thicker than a couple mm anyhow.

I feel like I should cut the Bowden tube down a little. That's the bullseye fan duct on an E3D all metal hot end, with a BLTouch and an aluminum extruder (because I had worn a groove in the plastic one).

Nice. Did the BLTouch mount to one of the bullseye files, or did you have to find a file somewhere?
It was listed with the bullseye files (they have both a right and left side mount). I did the right side mount, because the left side mount shared the hole for mounting the whole assembly, and got in the way of being able to adjust the duct.

Oh boy, went to print a revised dash dildo for the Z, and sliced it with Cura 4.1 (first go with the update).

Now the Z stepper motor is making a strange grinding noise during z hops. I'm hoping it's just a bed-level issue with the bilinear mesh, but I've also ordered a couple spare NEMA-17s just in case it's something more profound.
