Food The (not so) delicious food thread

The message has gotten twisted however (shocker). This isnt about dictating what is art & what is not. This is about taking steps to put an end to the epidemic of unwarranted patting oneself on the back

Are you the only one who gets to decide that, or can a person simply take pride in even the smallest things?

Now, moving on to . . DEEZ NUTS!
About once a year I order 5 lbs/2kg. of raw pine nuts to get a discount - wife roasts them up in small batches, then we put in canning jars and stick in freezer for storage, leaving one out for immediate use.

Got some raw, shelled pepitas(pumpkin seeds)too - seasoned half of them hot, other half light salt.

Not at all. Texture is totally unaffected. We've been doing this for years. I like making pesto and we put them on baba ganoush and hummus. Occasionally I make a paleo nut brittle with them and hemp hearts.

If you roast your own, crucial to wipe the pan really well between batches as the oil that oozes out will scorch and make the NEXT batch bitter. We do them in a large, heavy dutch oven, push around constantly over low heat.
