All thermometers are crap tbh. People like the ear and forehead kind, but I think the regular stick type digital under the pit is fine, get one with a soft tip. You should be within 0.2° F even with a squirmy kid.

There is no reason to do a rectal temp on a child at home, excepting certain conditions where close moniitoring is needed.

And no mercury thermometers please, they are nice and accurate and filled with MERCURY. Years ago they had turn in programs for those.

Bone infections are fucked. They lay dormant and are hard to treat because the antibiotic has a hard time getting to bone infections, especially in extremities. You may need some antibiotics.

She is. She was just released. They found a hole in her heart and nothing else so they are blaming it and she gets to go back for heart surgery in the near future. Luckily no therapies needed.

we ended up getting a braun ear one that seems to be accurate within .2 The armpit ones were WAY off. like 3 degrees off.

Alcohol ones built just like those are fine - and very accurate forever. Not a bad choice for older kids & adults.
