We were on our way to see @Mustard Dispenser, so that should have been our first sign...That's right. I knew it was something crazy with NOLA.

I had one where we took off from KC. We were up in the air maybe 2 minutes and got hit with lightning. It was super fucking loud and bright. We immediately turned aorund and landed. Got off and they swapped planes. Many years ago, my family took a trip to Florida to go to Disney World. The plane (I think it was in Philly) passengers boarded, they started the engines and were about to push off, when one of the engines caught fire. They killed engine and put out fire, "fixed" the issue a short time later, started engine again, caught fire again. Finally they deboarded us and got another plane. Oh and I had pink eye [infection] on that flight and through most of the trip.

Depends on the airline and airport. Alot of times they don't have replacement aircraft.Wait, there's no "if an engine catches fire we automatically put the passengers on a new plane for safety, and IDGAF if it's unnecessary, it's a great PR move" policy???
This was literally 30 years ago. Everything was different then. Actual leg room on the plane. Probably could still smoke on the plane (I don't remember as I was like 5 or 6 at the time). Probably still called them stewardesses.Wait, there's no "if an engine catches fire we automatically put the passengers on a new plane for safety, and IDGAF if it's unnecessary, it's a great PR move" policy???
When each seat, as a luxury item, had an ashtray in the arm rest! This was literally 30 years ago. Everything was different then. Actual leg room on the plane. Probably could still smoke on the plane (I don't remember as I was like 5 or 6 at the time). Probably still called them stewardesses.
All I can hear is the pilot saying "Our safety systems worked exactly as planned and alerted us to the problem so we could resolve it safely."Depends on the airline and airport. Alot of times they don't have replacement aircraft.
I remember when cars still had ash trays, sometimes in the arm rests too. Someone commented to me recently about modern cars not having ash trays, and I had not even given that much thought that "feature" has been removed. Granted I'm not a smoker and used to use the ash tray for pocket change, another item I rarely have. When each seat, as a luxury item, had an ashtray in the arm rest!

I wonder how long those will be around until they get switched to USB ports. I know some vehicles have dedicated USB ports.Cigarette lighters are now "accessory power ports" or some such.

alot of newer cars have fully done away with them all together and are only USB ports or an addtional physical power plugI wonder how long those will be around until they get switched to USB ports. I know some vehicles have dedicated USB ports.
Rented a lot of new cars for work this year and last. Every base model I've been in (which, to be fair, hasn't been the stupid cheap ones) has multiple dedicated USB ports and maybe one power port.I wonder how long those will be around until they get switched to USB ports.
