Is that not an accurate translation? Did I miss something and you actually like Beto? You didn't say anything of substance about why you don't like Beto other than the media likes him.

Translation: It's OK for Republicans to say something that's convenient for the moment but maybe not true in the long run, but for Democrats, it's the END OF THE WORLD.
Again, that's not was said, but you're used to your media making stuff up, so I can't really blame you that your political recipes include "add bullshit to taste" on the ingredient list.

can someone translate this post for me please :(

His opinion is the guy is / was a media darling without much experience. I'd tell you to check his campaign website to see a list of his accomplishments and where he stands on the issues but it doesn't list anything. Just an online shop to buy merchandise. Trump sold a lot of those MAGA hats....

Beto is an underwhelming to mediocre city council member turned member of the House who lost the Senate race to Ted Cruz.

additionally, he said he for sure wasn't going to run for president & now he is, which is also what he did in 2011 when he ran for the House.

I didn't go for the middle part bc I don't think I'd "translate" it in a way he'd approve of, but the rest was fairly straightforward, I just tried to add some context

thanks mama.
so is it a bad thing to say “nah i ain’t running” and then saying “syke! yes i’m running!” ??

he's "handsome" (mostly in the way that politicians here tend to be so old and ghoulish that we're cat jerky waiting for some boring white guy to rehydrate us) and more attuned to social media stuff, but it's very "how do you do, fellow kids"

I think part of it is the adamance & timeframe in the statements, it wasn't an I probably won't, or an I don't think I will, it was I absolutely will not do the thing because of these explicit, concrete reasons, & then like 3 months later flipping the script to be like yeah idk I just feel like I was born for this

"some" people like him. I think comparatively, he doesn't stand out other than it's every candidates job to grab some headlines when they announce. Are you hearing about Kamala? Booker? Liawatha? Klobushar? The rest of the overpopulated group? No. It doesn't mean they're not likeable, it just means they're not the center of attn at the moment. They're not generating the 'clicks' at the moment.

Iowans were impressed at a town hall with Pete Buttegeig until he introduced his husband. Then the room went shockingly quiet.
