They're kinda fun to build. I was thinking of starting a business of making custom ones. Kegerators go for like $500 for a single tap or some shit. I'd bet I could sell a custom 6 tap keezer for $2000, with probably a $1k profit and maybe 3-4 hours worth of work (possibly less if I get good).
Which reminds me, I need to make some new tap handles. Our painted ones look like shit. We did have a pretty cool one from @Mr. Asa but there must have been some weakness in the wood as it snapped.

Yep, working with people to get color, taps, handles, etc to their liking.I bet freight shipping stuff would be annoying as fuck. Would you just do it locally?
Hmmm, now that I think about it, I can probably take the 'tap nut' or whatever it's called out of the bottom and screw the pieces back together. It was weird, a friend was drawing a beer and the thing came apart in his hand.Whaaaa....
Send me pics. I might be able to fix it
I think there were a couple of pieces of different wood in the blank he turned it from. Might be that the epoxy he used to put them together didn't penetrate completely.Hmmm, now that I think about it, I can probably take the 'tap nut' or whatever it's called out of the bottom and screw the pieces back together. Or some wood glue.Hmmm, now that I think about it, I can probably take the 'tap nut' or whatever it's called out of the bottom and screw the pieces back together. It was weird, a friend was drawing a beer and the thing came apart in his hand.
Ehh... Depends how it broke. Might need a support perpendicular to the break.Or some wood glue.
I have an idea.Which reminds me, I need to make some new tap handles. Our painted ones look like shit. We did have a pretty cool one from @Mr. Asa but there must have been some weakness in the wood as it snapped.
Palmer knows his shit. I still consult that book regularly.
