Advice Weapons are uglier than trumps a-hole

I have experienced violence in my life, seen violence towards others, I still have no wish to get a gun, I have survived this far without one and will continue to do so. I agree that it's the mentality that needs to change.
Let me put it this way, guns are inanimate objects, beauty or ugliness of them is in the eye of the beholder, but I am certain their foundation/birth/origin lies in the uglier side of the human mentality which I am not going to feed.
Allow me a thought experiment.

I too, don't own any firearms, for similar reasons to you. I do own a weapon (a .122 air rifle), that I use primarily to put down pigeons and mourning doves that have broken themselves flying into my house.

Is the air rifle still ugly, even though I use it only to end suffering?

Yes.

Obviously your house is causing the suffering. Stop putting band-aids on the problem.

Is it moral to prolong the suffering when it's easily ended?

I can't do anything more than I already do to keep the birds from injuring themselves (it has mostly to do with my neighbors' cherry tree and their complete lack of motivation to keep the cherries from rotting on the ground after they fall).

How often does this happen? I have once driven over a dog to stop its suffering, my friend was going to do it if I didn't so I did it, I did not need a gun.
