Ontopic Alcohol Blog - Post when you're drinking!

I'm trying to imagine this tasting good.

Brew dog made a 50%+ ABV beer. It's made by ice distilling. Basically the final brew is slowly chilled. The ice that forms on the top is just pure water that has separated because of the differing freezing points and floats to the top. The ice is scrapped off and chilled further. the more you chill the liquid, the less water is in the brew and more alcohol stays. fortunately all of the other flavors stay, too, and more exactly get compounded. The water (flavorless) is stripped away and the resulting brew is far more concentrated with not just alcohol but with ALL of the flavors.

Needless to say a little goes a long way, but it's really quite tasty.

Whats the recipe?

depends on the regional variations. the one I was going for was more of a sipping beverage and not a shooter:

3 cups water (I will be using filtered)
2/3 cup light brown sugar -- I will be more authentic and use piloncillo
2/3 cup dark brown sugar -- Same, I will use piloncillo. so total I will use 1-1/3 cup
Juice of 1 lime -- I was going to slice a lime and peel the "shell" into shavings
pinch of salt
1 teaspoon whole cloves
4-6 cinnamon sticks
1/2 cup orange juice -- I was going to slice an orange and peel the "shell" into shavings
4 ozs (or more) of aguardiente

The original recipe I used has the following:

Bring the water, sugar, lime juice, salt, cinnamon sticks, and cloves to a boil. Simmer for 5 to 10 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in orange juice and aguardiente. Reheat without boiling, strain and serve hot.

I was going to wack all of the parts except the aguardiente into a crock pot on low for at least 15 minutes, maybe up to half hour. Let the flavors mingle. Put the aguardiente in at the last minute, just to get it to temp before serving.

I'm brewing raw eggnog right now. It will apparently take three weeks of the eggs sitting and melding with the liquor for some smooth, sterile eggnog. Longest three weeks of my life right now.

egg nog is once again, proof there's a God.

Add that to Beer, Wine, perfect tits, gagreflex self control, a hot beach, the perfect ski run, you get the idea.

My dad says, "look at that sunset, how can you not believe there is a god!"

Have you ever spent time with terminal kids?

I have. & of all the people I know, they're the most Christlike. They're the real proof there's a God.
 Geezus. I'm glad they are because brainwashing is easier to deal with when you are two years old than having to face the truth of what you are going through.

Do we have to start arguing religion again?
