No joke, get an Apple certified refurbed Retina display Macbook Pro. They have bangin video card options. My older 2011 non retina plays Skyrim like a mofo.

Get it direct from Apple and comes with a same as new warranty, has had any trouble parts replaced, and will save you some dough. Then just Bootcamp Windows onto it, which is wicked easy.

edit: Example http://store.apple.com/us/product/F...-23ghz-quad-core-intel-i7-with-retina-display

You'll prolly want more storage though.

The hardware is nice. The 650M you say plays Skyrim well? I was actually looking at a laptop with a GTX 780M. Unfortunately Mac doesn't work for me as I'm a windows platform developer. I will at some point be running a SQL server on the laptop. That and i'm a lazy fucker who likes everything to be ready and working on the laptop when I buy it.

Mac's do have good cooling though. Especially considering the thin style of their MacBooks.

So run Windows on it. Sounds like you have a better option already though with whatever has the GTX 780M.

if price is no object, you do realize you can run windows flawlessly on a mac now, right? Not hackintosh shit either. Supported, proper windows.

It does seem like a solid option. I will definitely keep it in mind as I'm not finding it easy to get a system with everything I want.

LED backlit screen
SSD + HHD
Top end GPU
i7 4700 or higher CPU
16gb ram

I can find ones in the $3000 to $4000 range, but I don't want to spend that much.

Would also love to get one with a touchscreen, but it seems they don't make any gaming style systems with touch.

This is something i did know, but had completely overlooked until Valve mentioned it. I am going to be looking at MacBooks closer now.

The first one is sold out. The second one is old. It has a 2nd gen i7. They are up to gen 4 now. Also that GPU is meh, and no SSD.

Something like this is what I'm after.

I just can't tell if the screen is LED backlit or not. It should be for that price.
