Rome: Total War 2...

Wait for the patch. Not the next one, not the ones they promise every week, that one patch about 6-8 months down the road that finally fixes everything shortly before DLC makes an appearance.

But man, if they had actually fixed the performance issues, this game would have been an epic release. I see what they were trying to do with the campaign map, and it would have been sweet if it worked, but it didn't, and they didn't have a plan B, so the campaign map takes way too long to update and you spend more time waiting for your next turn than actually playing.

They for sure got the real time battle part working though. Probably the best in the series, yet.

Thanks for the heads up. I saw you playing over the weekend and meant to ask you how it was. Maybe I'll pick it up during Steam's next spring sale.

Have you picked up Brave New World for Civ 5 yet? I can't remember if I talked it up to you previously, but it does a good job of making late game play more interesting by shaking up the power blocks after industrialization.

Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs is fucking great. It's one of those dark, spooky run-don't-fight games where you uncover the story as you progress, but the running instead of fighting is somewhat infrequent. The story is hilarious (not supposed to be). You uncover it as you explore and find journal entries scattered about, and as you progress through the levels. Liam would love it, since it struck me as a metaphor for civilized society in general and America specifically.

Played some GTA V last night. Some general thoughts:

Game plays pretty much like the previous one, just things seem more polished
Driving physics are way improved. Cars actually stick to the road instead of feeling like driving a soggy brick.
The city really feels "alive" every where you go, theres some random shit going on
The graphics are amazing, you can see forever, and I havent noticed any pop-ins or lags
One thing Ill like, is that you can set your phone to "privacy mode" so you wont constantly be getting calls from idiots while youre wanting to rampage for a while
Havent tried multi yet
I have the ps3 version

I let the boy watch me play GTA IV for a while a few days ago
All I did was drive around. Never left the vehicle, or did anything crazy.
Just drove around obeying the traffic laws.
He eventually decided it was boring and wandered away.
Which was good because I finally had lost patience with traffic and just took to the sidewalks mowing down all the pedestrians and a hotdog stand.

I don't get it? Maybe the gif isn't loading all the way for me, but I just see somebody with a video game walking behind some lady carrying a kid?

It's a gif of a parent giving their 12-15 year old boy GTA5. The kid then cries tears of joy.
