NORTH CANTON, Ohio (AP) -- Jessie Davis was excited about the upcoming birth of her second child, getting baby clothes ready and packing a suitcase for the delivery.
She had decided to name the baby girl Chloe, which means "blooming" in Greek. The 26-year-old was in good spirits when she spoke to her mother Wednesday.
But Davis hasn't been heard from since.
Authorities have no suspects in her disappearance and only a few chilling words from her 2-year-old son, who may have seen what happened to her: "Mommy was crying. Mommy broke the table. Mommy's in the rug." (Watch authorities begin to suspect foul play Video)
The boy, Blake, was found by Davis' mother, Patricia Porter, after she went looking for her daughter because she had not heard from her for a day. Blake, wearing a dirty diaper, was alone in a home with broken furniture, a pool of bleach on the floor and a bed comforter missing.
"My God something's wrong!" Porter said in a 911 call.
Porter told the emergency dispatcher that her daughter "would never, ever" leave the child behind. Davis is due to deliver July 3. (Watch a mother's desperate plea for her daughter's safe return Video)
A weekend search by police and 60 to 70 volunteers found no leads.
The father of Davis' son and unborn girl is Canton police patrolman Bobby Cutts Jr. He is estranged from his wife, with whom he has at least one other child.
Besides the broken furniture and bleach, Davis' home had a mattress in her bedroom partially off the bed and a knocked-over nightstand and lamp, Porter said. Items from Davis' purse were scattered on the kitchen floor.
Her cell phone was missing, investigators said, but her car was still at the home. The sliding patio door was unlocked.
The 30-year-old Cutts was to drop off the boy at Davis' home Thursday, Porter said in her 911 call. He could not be reached for comment Monday at his Canton home, where FBI agents and sheriff's deputies searched Monday night, removing items.
Cutts, who took part Sunday in a search around Davis' home, was placed on paid administrative leave due to the stress of the disappearance, Canton police Chief Dean McKimm told The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer.
Sheriff's deputies also searched Jessie Davis' duplex over the weekend and returned Monday evening with FBI agents.
"You just feel absolutely numb," Porter said. "I see her picture on television and I think, 'Oh my God, what a beautiful girl.' And then it hits you, 'That's my girl."'
Police have advised Porter not to ask the boy questions so that any recollections and information come out naturally.
"Whatever comes, comes," Porter said. "He plays a lot. We're not trying to prod him or anything."
Davis is employed by Allstate Insurance at a call center in nearby Hudson, company spokesman Mike Siemienas said Monday. A co-worker, Dianna Piltz, sent Davis a text message at 8:15 a.m. Thursday that wasn't returned.
"We freak out when she's a couple minutes late. She's pregnant and you always worry about pregnant women," Piltz said.
Neighbors said Davis lived a low-key life, and was often seen pushing a stroller. "Every now and then we'd see her out and about," said Jeff Midkiff, 46. "She would wave, or whatever. She seemed like a very quiet person."
North Canton is south of Cleveland in northeastern Ohio.
In 2000 in nearby Ravenna, a pregnant woman was killed and her baby was cut out by a heavyset woman who claimed she was pregnant and took the victim's baby as her own. She killed herself five days later when police traced cell phone calls and went to confront her.

I heard an interview with a priest once in which he was asked when he thought human life began. His answer was interesting. Apparently before a certain point in pregnancy you can take the embryo (or whatever it's called at that point) and pull it apart, chop it up, etc, and not actually destroy it. You just end up with more embryos. His theory was that human life began once the embryo could no longer take such rough treatment-- presumably because a soul had taken root at that point.
I don't know that I buy that, but he at least did some research and think it through in a way which was consistent with his belief as opposed to a knee-jerk response.
Nope, its a bunch of cells that may turn into one. OMG FLY JUST KILLED SOME CELLS ON MY FACE

Since they can't prove anything, that is all left to a matter of personal opinion. I don't believe in abortion at any stage unless the mother's life is in danger.

if the mother had intended to abort the baby then there is no question in my mind that it would only be one life taken...if she intended to have the baby, the intent is what solidifies it being two lives...if she hadn't been killed, that baby would have been born as she intended so there were in fact 2 lives taken

I was simply answering the question as to how I thought. If someone else wants to get an abortion, that is their choice, but I sure hope they think long and hard about it first, cause it isn't something you can ever take back or redo later in life. (And no, in this situation, I'm not pro choice. I which abortion was illegal in all 50 states except in the cases of medical necessity.)

At what point does it become a human being?
Good question, but the answer will involve a metaphysical debate. I don't know if I've got it in me to do that right now.
According to the priest I mentioned a few posts up human life begins at the moment the embryo would be destroyed by having a piece of it removed on account of his belief that this is when it has a soul.
That argument looses strength if you don't believe in souls.
At this point, one must try to define what makes humans human. This is like trying to push a rope up a hill.
Alternately, you can take Kiwi's approach and declare any fertilized human egg as a human being-- which makes me wonder how she feels about fertility clinics and the dozens of thousands of fertilized eggs currently languishing in freezers.

You've had an abortion? Wow, I didn't know they had figured out how to get a man pregnant.
Alternately, you can take Kiwi's approach and declare any fertilized human egg as a human being-- which makes me wonder how she feels about fertility clinics and the dozens of thousands of fertilized eggs currently languishing in freezers.
While the egg is fertilized, it isn't in a place where it can actually develop and grow, it's simply ready to become something but not doing so yet.
My sister had an eptopic pregnancy, there was a fertilized egg and it was somewhat developing, but due to the circumstances, it would never actually develop into a human, this pregnancy was aborted and I see nothing wrong with instances like that.
Like you stated, no one can win this debate, we all have our different opinions and we aren't going to change anyone's mind.

Yeah but government shouldn't just start tacking on bogus charges for the sake of making more of them stick. That's not how our justice system is supposed to work. Unfortunately it already does with bullshit like hate crime laws but the whole point of the justice system is to punish those who break the law, who victimize others. Giving the government yet another tool with which to fuck the people with is not a good idea.

Ectopics are when the egg implants itself in your fallopian tube instead of the uterus. The scenarios are, it aborts itself, it is medically aborted, or it grows until it bursts the tube which can destroy some or all female parts and even kill the mother. They are not pregnancies that can be left to grow into maturity because they will not.

What good could come of telling a guy you are preggers, don't want it, and that you are definately gonna have an abortion? Tha tjust seems mean.
Why mentally abuse a guy like that. Unless it is open for discussion .. that's like rubbing it in his face that he doesn't have a choice (ha ha, you lose). I don't think I would mention it if I were gonna do that. Especially if I ever wanted to talk to the guy in a civil manner again (or at least not have him key my car and slash my tires weekly). That's what can make a person snap and do crazy shit imo.
Ultimately its the womans choice and responsibility if you really want to look at it that way. Just dont lie and say you are on the pill, fuckin bitches.
I hate the pill. If you don't take it everyday pretty much at the same time .. it lowers the effictiveness greatly. If you take antibiotics it renders them basically ineffective.
If you miss two pills in a row, take two pills as soon as you remember and two pills the next day. You may have some spotting. Use your backup method of birth control until your next period.
If you miss three or more pills in a row, start your backup method of birth control immediately. Your ovaries may produce an egg (ovulation), and without a backup contraceptive you could become pregnant. Ask yourself, "Am I a good pill user?" Another method of contraception may be better for you.
More women need to ask themselves this I think .. prolly be a lot less babies in the world that shouldn't be here.
Some women just don't read up on this stuff and think if they take 2-3 pills every other day they are ok. They are dumbasses for not reading up on what they are taking.
Some people always think "it won't happen to me" too .. again, dumbasses.

Its not hard at all. I leave mine by the fridge so that way I see it every day and I also have access to a drink so no excuse not to take it.
My DR told me that if you don't take your pill within a 3 hour time frame (3 before or 3 after) when you start taking the pill it lowers the effictivness by at least 10%. So if you have strong hormones .. you can get preggers if you do that over a continued amount of time.
So if you take your pill at 8am today and don't get up until 12pm tomorrow, then lay in bed for another hour and take your pill at 1:30pm, then get up at 9am tommorrow .. and so on and so forth .. you can get into trouble.
I should know .. it's how I got my son. :fly:. I never get up at the same time more than 2 days in a row.

I think it stems from not liking to take pills .. my subconscious just denies me the right to remember .

The doctors put you on a time schedule so you will make it a habit of taking it since skipping a day does reduce effectiveness.

Well, I know I never missed a pill during the time I took them. I just took mine whenever through the day .. and 10 months after I started taking them .. I found out I was 2 weeks preggers.
After I went and asked him how that could happen .. he asked me if I took it at the same time everyday. I said no. He asked if I had actually read the pamphlet that came with them. I of course, hung my head and said "no". And he reiterated exactly what the pamphlet said, word for word.
Nothing I could do at the time .. except kick myself in the arse . I read the pamphlets that come with my drugs now .

I have to remember to do something everyday, 10am when I wake up and 10pm. Its not taking a pill but I have to do it everyday.
I remember to wake up, brush my teeth (well sometimes I forget and have to do it at work .. which is why I have a toothbrush/paste/listerine here ), put my hair in a pony, put on my clothes (I have forgot to put on my bra more times than I can recall .. I have one of those in my locker as well ) and that's about it.
I'm very forgetful

There are a million of other possibilities. Were you working out at the time? That metabolizes the pill much faster and is how someone I know got pregnant.
Were you taking other medications? Recreational drugs? Smoking?
Were your hormone levels correct? too low? too high?
I have a hard time believing that missing a pill after 8 hours is going to make you pregnant.

nope I was 18 .. had never worked oit before in my life. Wasn't taking any drugs, haven't ever smoked (except once when I was 17 and got caught with my first pack  .. that was the end of that), and I would assume the DR tested my hormone levels to decide which pill to put me on 10 months earlier when I got them.

I set a timer on my phone. When it goes off, I take the pill. Like you, wake up or bedtime didn't work (it would work better now cause the kids are fairly consistent), so I chose a time that I was usually at home or at least somewhere I could easily grab some water. The minipill that you take while nursing is even much more strict about timing cause it's such a low dose. Oh, and in case anyone didn't know, nursing is not an effective form of birth control (no, we didn't think that, we were using other methods).

Ha, not the one time it would've made a difference.

There are other issues too, but we won't get into that on a public forum.
We thought we were using other methods.

It's my mom's fault. I wasn't always so bad. But since I've moved back home she does everything before anyone else can attempt to do it, so I gave up trying and just go with it .. I'm left with doing nothing except "my stuff" .. I think my brain has gone soft .
