Nothing's wrong with it. I just want to know how to take an mpeg or avi file and put it on a dvd so I can watch it on *gasp* A dvd player...

Silly kitty, you could probably use Windows Media Player. OR, if your burner came bundled with some software, you should be able to use that as well.

Did you make sure that the settings in Nero were correct? Mainly what type of drive you're using, and I think what type of media you're burning to.

Oh hell! Don't check that link..... it's talking about raw DVD video files. Try just making it a data disc....... that should work. It won't autoplay or anything like that, but it will be on a dvd.

Were you talking about making your avi or mpeg into a dvd video??

Do you have the MPEG encoder for Nero? That's what you're missing.

If you don't, check suprnova.

Check out the new Nero Vision program. It will take most any video file you can throw at it and convert it to MPEG2, let you make custom menus and such, select you preview vids/images, create the VOB files, and burn it.

AVI to DVD Coversion guide

There are many programs that will perform the conversion for you. Some are easier than others to use. Trial is error is the game here until you find something that works. I recommend TMPGEnc but you may find a better solution. The best thing is to use Suprnova.org to download the software you need and try to find the tutorial that works for you.

Converting AVI and MPG to VCD is the easiest way to play a movie on your DVD player. The problem is that even though all DVD players claim to play VCD they do not.

If your going to download a lot of movies then you might want to consider buying a newer DVD player that plays Divx/Xvid aka AVIs. The advantage to this is that you no longer need to convert the video to DVD or VCD. You create a ISO disc with all of your movies and have player handle the rest. I download a lot of movies and this is how I archive and watch everything I have.
