Seriously. Entertainment is well and great and there are 500 zillion ways to get free porn, all with faqs and step by step instructions but what if I need a legal brief, or a copy of the International Building Code or STANAG 4179 (NATO design standard for 5.56mm small arm magazines).

Why just today I pirated.....wait a second...
:shifty:
FG has sold out to the feds, quick ban him before he tells all our sekrats!
I'm curious why you would want a copy of the IBC if you don't already have one from work...?

Well duh, I thought everyone knew I was a BATF...
Either way, it would be fair use, if I can borrow it from the library, read it, and take notes; then downloading it and reading it is pretty much the same thing.

Work? I guess I could deduct it as a business expense but you cant deduct something from nothing
Mostly for the same reason I have this:

INFORMATION. Due diligence, etc.
Specifically need it so I know how far to place outlets off of a cement slab and not get busted by the building inspector. Not to mention doing things the correct way the first time is always a good feeling.
Also need to know egress for windows mounted 17-5/8" off grade.

Funny, recently I got into a discussion about ebooks on another forum where the admins cut the subject off pretty abruptly-from their point of view I can't really blame them though. What difference does it make whether I borrow a book from the local library or dl it as an ebook and read it on my Palm?

What a boring thread. A thread you can just bitch in, surprising.

My school has an online e-brary, there are probabaly 200k books to choose from .. and more and more every month are added. We don't have to pay anything for them, it's included with our tuition. Pretty cool imo.

Wouldn't something like that be part of the public record?

oh those things exist. for a while I used to belong to a group of wonder librarian pirates who forsaw the coming digital age and wanted to scan everything to pdf. it's why I own very strange and various books on disc.

Public record is the biggest joke ever. You can file for FOIA but they charge like 50c per shitty copy. Court records you have to play the clerk to look them up and half the time they refer you to the 'Reporter' which is a publishing company whichever court had licensed out their material to.

I found it =o, sorta

Apparently I buried my line too deep but eh, code is the 'minimum', 4/0 in rigid conduit buried at 38 inches.

I've actually done that part. The slab shifted once and cut the previously installed lines (it was bought that way). I broke it out installed rigid PVC conduit and a new service line (cant remember specifically what it was, 4 gauge aluminum underground something).
The thing is that the building sits on the slab and I need[ed] to know if there were any specific requirements for distance from concrete to outlet. Apparently not (I emailed my dad, EE), but they are 17" from the slab atm which will be 15-1/2" from finished floor.
