Activating an account on the weekend eh? It's a bold move, let's see where this goes.

So, welcome to the forum, tell us something about yourself.

I'm 19, just moved to Maryland a few months ago (previously in the same little NY for all 19 years of my life.) I'm not currently enrolled in school, though I wish I was, I just haven't sufficient funds for it. I've also no clear idea what I want to do. I'm thinking something computer related, possibly network security/information assurance or something, but I'm not sure. I like classic rock, reading, and playing dressup (in an entirely not kinky-attentionwhorey way... think dressing up for halloween, with blood and guts and awful grossness everywhere.) I'm agnostic, but moreso just apathetic. I hate politics because I'm to idealistic and think that everyone should just learn to get along. I don't like spicy food. I sometimes enjoy playing Day of Defeat, though I'm not too great at it. I like to play as the german sniper on avalanche, or as a regular unteroffizer on flash. I'm madly in love with the Dark Tower series. I'm a certified Phlebotomy Technician, which means I'm trained to stick needles in peoples' arms and take blood for the purpose of medical diagnosis. I'm not sure what else to say, or if I've even said the right things.

I don't remember that. I don't usually do the whole "tough guy on the internet" thing. Threatening bodily harm over the internet is pretty worthless and I recognize that. Also, I'm usually nice to everybody, even people who don't deserve it. Are you sure it was me, and not the guy who was raped to my name/title/av for months? It might well have been me, I won't deny that I've been stupid on the internet before, so I'm not flat out denying that this happened, so much as saying I don't recall it. If it was I who threatened you, I apologize.
I suppose I don't really have a reason why you should let me join, other than that I'd like to. I don't think I'm too terrible of a poster, I don't spam (except in designated areas.)
You don't have to, though. I can stick to [m] if that would make you feel better. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to post here, but if it's going to get your panties in a bunch, I can stay away ;)

Hello there, what is your favorite method of getting rid of Jehoviah's Witnesses at your door on a Saturday morning?

How early in the morning? Early morning visitors are never welcome, whether they're peddling Jesus or hot manslaves. I'd really like to say that I had some cool hardass way of getting rid of them, or that I answer the door in revealing clothes to make them uncomfortable, but I pretty much just ignore them and pretend I'm not there. If I answer the door, I know that my polite instincts will kick in, and I'll offer them food and drinks and let them stay for hours and buy whatever they're selling, and let them talk and talk and talk, because it's just not in my nature to force people out or be mean to them :( If you just pretend that you're not there (and don't make a sound) they'll eventually go away. That's worked so far here in Maryland, and in NY, I lived in the middle of nowhere so that issue came up only once or twice. My dad had little stickers on both doors that said something like "No Jehova's" and for years had one of those trashy rednecky "'Forget the dog, beware of owner' with a drawing of you staring down the barrel (and other 5 chambers) of a revolver on it" signs.
I'm polite to the point of ridiculous-ness. It's just hardwired into me. Two or three times, I've had random skeevy dudes on the street say something like "what's up, gurllll" and instead of either ignoring them, or making known that I don't approve of it, I respond, "Oh, I'm fine, thanks. How are you?"

In regards to my earlier post anout the Jehoviah's witnesses:

I was washing the dog when they rang the bell at about 9:30a.m., so I was in ratty clothes and soaked. I answered the door with a nice hello and then a 4-6 second juicy fart just slipped out of me when they started their stuff about "do you believe you could live forever?". I don't know where the fart came from but it did the trick. They looked at each other, then back at me, handed me their paper booklets thanked me and left all without taking a breath. I have noted this strategy and intend on using it in the future. Anyways, I saw your votes so welcome to the forum!

No no, that's great. I can think of a few girls who came here from genmay, posted in a few threads about being female, got little to no attention (We have a lot of female posters here) and left.

If you have got good stuff to contribute, it doesn't matter what sex you are, you'll be made to feel very welcome all the same.

Besides, we have our very own male attention whore. It's easy to find him though, he'll swing by to tell you he's gay soon enough.

I do! I'm quite good at ironing, actually. And if you need sharp creases, I can totally handle that, too. I've found for extra sharp creases, a little liquid starch, not diluted, on the inside of the crease, and some spray starch on the outside, works wonders.

Quite well, but also quite busy. He works full time, and has class still (he graduates this December,) so I don't see much of him during the week. I try to find ways to spend a little more time/do things with him, like waking up early enough to iron and make him sammiches for lunch, that way I'm awake enough to see him for a bit in the morning, and that way I can spend more time with him in the evening instead of doing that then.

That's true, and that's what I'm not looking forward to. Lots of important practicals this week that I know I'd probably sleep past if I had half the chance.

The ryder cup's on though, that's a good sedative, as are sundays in general. Especially when it's pissing with rain.

You up because you're sick? or just can't sleep.

I have a cold of some sort (THE ATLANTA PEOPLE GOT ME SICK) but that's not why I am up. I don't sleep well, haven't for a few years. I am pretty sure I know why and I hope to fix it in the near future. In the meantime, I get garbage from doctors explaining the circadian rhythm and such, things I already know. Hey, the last sleep doctor told me to go get laid. No joke.

The forecast for this evening was thunderstorms, wind and rain. It hasn't happened. I may walk down to the park.

They even did a sleep study on me once. I stayed overnight at the hospital while they watched me sleep via infrared and lovely sticky things on various parts of my anatomy. I stayed the next day as well. If I recall I was allowed to nap for 15 minutes each hour then they would wake me. It was the day the last Concord crashed while taking off, don't ask why I remember. All I know is the nurses and doc said I was odd. 'We've never seen someone fall into such a deep sleep within 15 minutes.'

Thanks guys.

I did sleep pretty well with lunesta, I almost had a normal schedule this past week. Giving me ambien is a bad idea. Melatonin doesn't do anything noticeable. I just live with it.

I have nothing demeaning or a joke to make about that, I really must be sick. Are you happy there?

For the most part, I am very happy. The sucky parts are where I can't afford to go back to school yet, and I can't yet afford health insurance, so I can't start back up with roller derby for fear of injury. I also haven't found a job yet, despite applying at a myriad of job locations and types. I'll be applying over at Walter Reed (the big Army hospital in the area) soon, but every other hospital/medical facility I've applied at has denied me, most likely due to lack of sufficient experience. Even the jail denied me. I'm apparantly not fit to stab inmates. I've also applied at crappy retail jobs, because money is money and I really need some stat so I can start paying my bills. No such luck.

Other than that, it's pretty cool. After 2 years of waiting, I'm finally with Ironman. Also, 2 of my friends from high school go to uni down here, so I'm not completely alone all of the time. I just went to American uni last night and played Apples to Apples until 2am. That's how I party, yo. Card games.

Is it bad that I had no idea that August existed until she created this thread? Did I miss out on a ton of cool stuff like threads about awesome things happening and noodz?

Not a big deal, I can wait. This thread feels nice and cozy.

Nah. I'm nothing special, really.

Well then, I'm glad we've established it.

FYI I'm KNYTE, the Mormon that everyone likes. I'm married to Kiwi, the other Mormon that everyone likes. I have two kids, I like handguns, I've personally met a good number of people from UF, and I've essentially slept in the same room as Fly and April (their door was open, which essentially means that the entire house is one big room in my opinion).

My hair is blonde, my eye's are blue, and I have a power level rating of "ridiculously awesomeness".

This was an afterthought, but alas, I can't yet edit:
Do you ONLY stick to handguns, or do you switch it up to shotties once in a while?
Back home when I had access to firearms and a range, I used to shoot skeet and trap with my dad and grandpa a lot. I was co-chair of the skeet committee at the gun club
I've yet to find a decent range here to shoot at.

I don't know where in Maryland you are, but there's a skeet range off of Marriotsville Rd. between Rt 99 and Liberty.

Hi, welcome. Where in Maryland are you? IBWIP and I will be moving back there in a few months. Seems like Maryland is now becoming a player in where UF members are from. This is so exciting.

I'm in Laurel for now, once Ironman graduates in December we'll be moving, but we'll still most likely be in this area.
It's a huge change from my small hometown in NY though.
I had a graduating class of something like 112, and it was the largest class my school had ever seen.
Here, the apartment complex I'm in has it's own elementary school.

Welcome to civilization. I grew up in Columbia, just a few miles up 29, and will be moving back in a month or so. Can't fucking wait.

That's fucking terrible advice. Chemical induced sleep is a last resort, I'd suggest a different diet or something, but I don't know your circumstances. You may just be the same as me.

No rain today, was actually quite sunny which makes a change. I didn't do anything today though because I couldn't be bothered. Just sat and watched reruns of Have I Got News for You?

Aye, sleep studies are a pile of shite. I'm surprised they didn't just give you sleeping pills and a kick in the hole.

Are you using them for recreational use?

It plays on the 360, too.

Eh, I liked it the first time I saw it in like 11th grade, but not enough to obsess over. It wasnt life-changing for me or anything, it was just amusing. And then it was the ULTIMATE SCENESTER MOVIE and I started to hate it out of principle.
Now I'm pretty indifferent. Except the line "he told me to forcibly insert the book into my ANUS" makes me laugh every time.

I wouldn't say I was impressed by it. I was mildly entertained, but not impressed.
